It may be strict, but at least the reffing in international hockey is consistent. A penalty is a penalty, doesn't matter what the score is or who got penalized last.

Not true, the reffing is a huge problem in Europe and the IIHF.

The IIHF refs may be poor but they dont purposely ref based on time and score. Canada was still getting power plays yesterday.

It might seem that way, but they totally do, of course if you watched only Canadas games this tournament, what choice did they have? Canada dominated every game so hugely, but for example the reffing in Finlands games were just horrible, never ever have I seen as horrible reffing, ANYWHERE.

Canada's domination is irrelevant. If it were the NHL when Canada goes up 1-0 or 2-0 yesterday they would have been sent to the box for nothing. To keep balance.
In Game one NY-TB, when NY scored at the end of the 2nd to lead 1-0 they got called immediately early in the 3rd, same with ANA yesterday.
I watched the FIN-CZE quarterfinal and the refereeing seemed ok, didn't watch other FIN matches.

The rags finally ended up on the wrong side of the officials and they will lose. Quelle surprise. Still can't believe the flames didn't get any power plays the last time they faced off. Let's see if the rangers send a guy into Bishop skates first in game 3 again.

Lets not forget it probably helped the Flames given all the comebacks they had this year.

just found it interesting that the two-ref system mitigates some of these effects.

It's vastly better now than it was 10 years ago. Lots of ex-NHL officials over there working with the different countries.
