A few weeks ago I took Stoney from the deep SE to Evanston and I passed 6 police vehicles and photo radar set ups.

I was somewhat surprised at the number of police but that being said I was doing 115 and being passed by vehicles that eventually disappeared from my sight, so it appears that the police were set up on Stoney for a very good reason.

I think that guy was on the one episode of the show I saw. He actually got kicked off because they decided he was irredeemable, which gives some idea of how truly bad he is.

Because it is AB Trans procedure to post the limit 10 below the design speed. A new set of rules introduced in 1995 dictate current speed limits on new roads. Deerfoot has been grandfathered in at 100 becuase it miserably fails the current standards on multiple counts... Memorial, Calf's Robe, etc.

Citing Deerfoot Trail in argument regarding higher limits is PURE insanity. This is one of the most lethal roads in the country and you want to up the limit? One has a pretty good chance of dying on Deerfoot Trail so in my opinion, let's teach people to drive in such a way that they stay alive at the current limit, then talk about raising them.

Are the new rules overly conservative somewhere like Stoney? Yeah. Deerfoot? No. But before we do any of that? We need to start enforcing lane discipline, following too closely, vehicle equipment, etc... these are the things that will stop fatalities from skyrocketing if we start jacking up limits.

"What cars can safely do these days" isn't what's holding us back.

I watched the clip in the OP, and that guy needs to be punched in the nutsack. He's got a young son and he drives like that? I mean, not that anyone should drive like that, but being that kind of an a-hole driver and also being in custody of children should be illegal. And what a cocky tool. He has no idea how much of a jackass he looks like on that show. To the end, he's defiant. Just about the biggest loser I've ever seen.

It says the show was recorded in 2011, and in the clip, he shows his ~3y/o kid, and says that he needs to reform himself because he's got the kid. So this is 4 years later, and he clearly still driving like the biggest a-hole on this side of the 100th, which is downright pathetic. Even if he hasn't driven like this with his kid in the car (which I doubt), he clearly has no regard for his own life, which pretty much makes him a complete loser of a father, and that's not to mention the lack of regard for other peoples' lives.

The worst part about all this is that short of putting this jackass in prison, there's no way to stop him. He outright brags about driving drunk, driving while suspended, and just not giving a flying F about any driving laws at all.

I feel bad for his kid. Nice role model.

Man, some crazy stuff from his fb

Lots on my plate today, To sum it up...
To break it down, maybe someday there could be a book...
To not-so sum it up......
off the top of my head...
I am slandered on page 3 of the Calgary Sun in the City where I live.
My mother has cancer and had an operation to remove it but it didn't get it all.
My ex is trying to take away my most important thing in my life, Isaac.
My father has pulmonary something or other.
I have lost my drivers licence again, and was unaware. (So 30 days impound is $1000 for my car back.)
I am $70,000 in debt to 100 people. (So to pay them each $50/month is $5000, what do you make after taxes?)
All of my car windows were hatefully and maliciously smashed with the exception of the sunroof, by a "friend" who tells me I'm family, earlier.
And I'm sure I'm missing a couple majors and 1000 minors.
So this is my first and, hopefully, last Facebook "woe is me" status. For this reason.

Has his own taxi/shuttle service?

Road Trip anyone. Free ride...
And ...
Rides to ANYWHERE, for $5 becuase you know me....
Work/play/BC/or a ride home.... For $5 for the next hour.
Normal $10 minimum.
Call 403-919-5465 for
Someone to drive you.
Text or Call 403-617-5465 for ME to drive you.
Or you may send an email to MakeAmovEcalgary@gmail.com to schedule a pickup for another time. $5 covers all drives for the next hour. Maximum 50 kilometres.
Normal rate is $10 minimum, $20 for 2 vehicles(designated driving, etc. Covers first 10 kilometres. Additional mileage is $1/km, or $2/km for two vehicles. Class 1 is $4/km. Add a $20 surcharge, for drives over 100km. No gst until April 30th. Reciept available!!

That too. And add narcissist to it as well.

It blows my mind that this guy is driving gypsy cab as well and getting away with it. I can guarantee you this guy isn't insured for a nickel when he takes someone out with him. Not only is a personal policy not going to cover you when you are using it commercially, using someone else's would be even more worthless if that is possible.

This guy needs to be stopped. But if you read his Facebook posts, it is never his fault. Always someone elses. What a frikkin tool.

People don't deserve higher speed limits. The roads are full of inconsiderate idiots who can't follow simple rules half the time and put their own well being above others. Maybe if people proved themselves to be competent drivers and the amount of collisions out there were reduced, the powers that be might be more lenient with speed limits. But as long as people who don't deserve licenses are able to get them and rules keep getting broken, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Tickets of course,Cops,Aldermen,The Mayor and probably the Pope know it's too slow but we have to pay for the thing somehow I guess.

Really...I haven't had the chance to drive anywhere near the speed limit on Deerfoot for a long time. There is just too much traffic.

I am very happy that I am not the only one thinking of the children.

Don't you think this is way over the top? It is not like thousands die on deerfoot every year.

I beleive the current speed limits (official 100/unofficial ~115) on Deerfoot is fine as it is usually too congested and it turns too much.

No matter how much driver training the government provides, there will be some people who are not capable enough to drive at speeds over 100.

I assume there is an actual document backing up a 110km/h design limit on Stoney?
