Based on who is likely to be there at 15, Svechnikov is who I want.
If possible though, trade up for Rantanen.

Draft Aaron Ward. The guy can predict the future!

My problem with both these players though is they are LH shots. I would prefer a RW that shoots right.

I hope Timo Meier is available, have watched him a bit this year and really like his game.

It should never change, draft the Best Player Available.
But what the Flames need are a couple of blue chip defense prospects and a big skilled top 6 guy.
When this team is ready to contend, I see the lines breaking down as:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Poirier
Ferland-Bennett-???
Bouma-Colborne-Jooris
Wolf-Arnold-Hathaway
Maybe Klimchuk fills that 2nd RW spot? Or Jankowski?
But I think the Flames need a guy there with some high end offensive skill to complement Bennett. I put Ferland on Bennett's wing going forward because I think he has the skill to play with Bennett but also protect him as Bennett is a bit of disturber.

I'm hoping Travis Konecny is still around at 15. Timo Maier would be alright also

I'd go BPA in the 1st round and go big on defense with the 2nd round picks.

While a RH shot would be nice, Both players have great size AND speed to go along with some real nice skill. Something along even the LW the Flames lack aside from Guadreau. And having LH RW's hasn't hurt the Flames this year. Hudler rocks the RW.

If they are available after the top 10 picks, trade up...
1) Rantanen
2) Werenski
At 15:
1) Meier (LW/RW)
2) Roy (RD)
3) Konecny (RW)
4) Svechnikov (LW)
5) Chabot (LD)

Take the best players available with every pick. Added bonus if they are RH shots.

I still think the Flames should be targeting defensemen. I'd love to land someone like Chabot, Brandon Carlo and I'm still on board with grabbing Kylington if at all possible with our second pick or making a trade to move up with one of our seconds and a third or something.

I don't know much about the players at the position we are drafting in. So if we make a poll, whoever gets the most votes is who I want. Hopefully its a defenceman.

I would trade our 15th overall, both 2nd round picks, and both 3rd round picks to move up for Provorov. I think he'll be a franchise defenseman, better than Hanifin.

Thing is, at 15 in this draft, who the BPA is going to be far from obvious.

In a perfect world, Hunter Smith is NHL ready by the time the Flames are in contention mode.

Personal bias request: Kyle Conner. He seems like a player that would fit the Flames perfectly even if he would be a redundancy (left-handed centre). Fast, smart, two-way player with excellent overall tools. He's a stretch at 15 but I'd take him with no reservations if available.
More realistic options:
- Thomas Chabot: Big and has a tonne of upside. He seems like a safe pick to make the NHL in some variety and will be able to determine his own future as to whether that will be as a top pairing or second pairing guy...or just make it in as a borderline player. A little risk as a prospect but I think the Flames are starting to develop a solid track record for prospect development.
- Evgeny Svechnikov: He's the absolute powerhouse of a forward the Flames need. Big and explosive, he is the type of player who can just bust through teams standing up at the blue line and should be able to complement the forwards well with this contrasting style.

Outside of finishing 9th and winning the lottery this is about as good as it gets for a draft position. Finishing with the lowest point total in the playoff and winning a round still getting the 15th pick which should give us a great prospect. Take the best player on their list regardless of position

Flames are deep in goalie prospects already. What they really need is always big d-men who can skate, big right wingers, and the obvious, big centerman. You can trade for goalie prospects any day, but it's a waste to pick a goalie in the first round.
