Born, raised and living in The Netherlands. Became fan in 1990 or so.
I lived in Calgary for one year and met Joe Nieuwendyk (Dutch ancestors), Joel Otto and Al MacInnis at the airport.

Born in Kenora, Ontario. Moved to Calgary in 1980, went to 1st Flames game at the corral, fan ever since. Worked in Calgary as a Paramedic for 25+ years. Now retired, in Campbell River, on Vancouver Island.

Grew up in Lethbridge, where I was one of about 4 Flames fans in my entire school. (this was during the mid 80s when everyone loved the dirty oilers) I have since lived in Utah, France, Montreal, Lethbridge (again) and am now back "home" in Calgary, but my devotion has never wavered.

Born and raised in Northern Manitoba(Wabowden, The Pas). Moved to North Vancouver three years ago and don't have any plans of leaving unless I need to for job reasons.
What made me a Flames fan is I always remember my parents cheering for them in the playoffs even though my dad is a Bruins fan. And I liked Fleury and thought it was cool he was from Manitoba too. This was probably around 88 and I remember when they did win the cup the next day happened to be sneaker day at school so my dad drew a Flames logo on my shoes and made two Stanley Cups out of tinfoil and put them above the logos.

I'm in Calgary now but I was born in Germany to Polish parents, moved here young but my parents never exposed me to hockey. Didn't watch a single game for the 10 years I lived here until one day in 2003 the Flames unveiled their new red jerseys on the morning show on Global News. Lots of my friends were talking about it in school the next day (grade 9) so I decided to watch the next game that was on and from then on I was hooked.
Lucky for me it was the 03/04 season so I think that helped cement my status as a fan! Now I'm a little overboard. Thanks a lot new Flames jersey for eventually causing me to easily spending a very large portion of money on the Flames.
Thought my story might fit in since I was so FOB.

Grew up in Calgary but now I work and live in San Francisco. I always try to go to the Flames game at the Dome when I'm back in Calgary but I also catch the Flames vs Sharks games in SJ.
Being a Flames fan in the shark tank is a little intimidating since there are hardly any Flames fan in SJ.

There are some sweet stories in this thread
Mine is a tad underwhelming. I was born to "FOB" parents in Calgary, but my dad loved hockey the minute he came to Canada. My mom says I used to get super excited or super sad over the Flames as a kid. My first real memories of the Flames are from 94 or 95, so I basically feel like I grew up with Iginla.
I moved to Vancouver a few years ago, and now reside in Southern California for the past 2 years.
Flames devotion has never wavered. In fact, living away from the mothership has made me even more hardcore I think.

I moved away from Calgary in '83 and away from Alberta from '93-'02, but the Flames were a piece of "home" for me to hold onto. Being surrounded by Oilers, Leafs, Habs and Bruins fans for the 19 year exile only made me love the Flames more.

Moved to Calgary from Turkey in 1980. Soon after watched my first game in the Corral with my father. I *think* it was against the Devils and we were sitting by the visitor bench. One of the visiting players tossed me a puck after the game. Hooked.
Moved to Cleveland in mid-90s and it was hard to follow the Flames. Only saw games over Christmas during visits to Calgary, but had to make do with internet recaps of scores. Took Flames fever to Minnesota and made myself a nuisance at the occasional Wild game. Now hoping to make myself a nuisance here in Seattle.
The moral of this story: A puck or a stick flipped to a youngster during or after a game is a really simple gesture that goes a looooong way.

Sweden here. From a really small town with about 1.000 inhabitants and the only flame-fan here I think. And fans of NHL hockey is almost none-existant unfortunately, if they like hockey, it's only the SHL.
It all started with NHL 95 on my old Sega (my first video game), scrollin' through all the teams and saw this flaming C logo and thought it looked really cool. My last name starts with a C so thought that was fitting too hehe.
Didn't start following the team though until the start of 2005-06 season, when they started showing ONE game a week on Saturdays (Sunday morning hehe) so if the flames played on HNIC that week, I was super excited!
Now thanks to the internet, I get to see or listen (mostly listen since I work night) to all the games and I love it. GO FLAMES GO!
(sorry for my english)
Ps: This is my first playoff run I get to take part of and I'm loving every minute of it, hope we go far! WOOHOOO!

Was born in Lethbridge, Alberta but was raised in the United States.
My dad got me into the Flames when we were on our 2004 cup run. I've been a fan ever since and have gone to every Coyotes-Flames game down here since 2005.
