You might try lighting it on fire. I'm sure it's not conclusive evidence, but if it burns/melts easily it might not be very asbestosy. Then again, the smoke might be worse.

Ya, I would have to agree that this likely doesn't have asbestos. We had to replace our flooring and had tiles from the 60s that were crumbling in places and likely had asbestos but some suggested they were just PVC tiles. Neighbors had similar tiles that PVC.

Anyway, a couple of tips to keep the dust down, mist the area with water or wipe it down with water before removing it. This should help keep the dust down.

Once all the work is complete, change your furnace filter.

For our protection we wore masks and clothes that we could just throw out after.

The best option, if you really think it has asbestos, just leave it. Don't take it up and put your flooring over top of it. If you don't bother it, it won't cause you and issues.

Yeah the issue with asbestos are, for the most part, associated with tile linoleum. More specifically, 9x9 tile. The sheet that you have in the photo shouldn't be a problem but I am not a doctor errr... an asbestsr doctor.

Well, I did what I could within my means.

Bought an asbestos rated respirator, hepa filter for shop vac, "sealed" off the room with painters sheet plastic and misted the #### out of everything as I worked. As I mentioned above, my plan was to cut the vinyl along the seam where the particle boards meet each other then pry it up in one shot. It actually came up pretty good. Didn't really expose a lot of it...although some ended up getting torn off. Anyway, I'm hopeful it was free of the stuff as most of you guys think, but if not sure, best to try and mitigate risk I suppose.

Really eh?

I thought it reeked of early 80's...could be later , dunno. It actually doesn't look nearly as bad in pictures, but up close it was brutal nasty. Worn out like it was put down in the early 80's that's for sure.

IMO, Doesn't look nearly orange or pink enough to be from the 80's.

I'd say that design even looks late 90's

lol, I sure hope you don't mean the whole floor. That would strike me as poor problem solving.
