Its funny when you get these calls on cellphones or regular phones. The first thing that I do now is google the number. I was shocked that Revenue Canada clearly had an office in KeyWest Florida.

Its to the point now when I get a phone call from my "Bank", or a credit card company or whatever the first thing I do is google.

Had a local scammer call me a couple weeks ago claiming that I had unpaid parking tickets from 2007 (!) that I needed to pay right away. Since I had never identified myself, I kept interrupting his threatening spiel to ask him to verify who he was trying to contact. He ignored that three times before I hung up. It was all very amusing. Did a look-up on the number afterward... they spoofed some poor paving company in Chestermere.

Well this just keeps getting better and better. CRTC giving telecoms 90 days to come up with solutions to block unwanted phone calls:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/crtc...alls-1.3839951

Quote:
Telecom companies have 90 days to come up with 'technical solutions … to block illegitimate nuisance calls within their networks,' the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission said Monday.
And if the CRTC doesn't like what it hears at the end of that time, there will be consequences, it warned.
