Uh, potentially they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Either mail back the summons requesting to be excused, or show up on the day and request it then.
I just completed a jury summons today. The first thing that happens is hundreds of jurors are summoned. If your number actually gets picked out of the few hundred who haven't already been excused, when you go up to the front, you have a chance to speak to the Justice. If you have paid vacation/travel booked during the time that trial is scheduled, you will be excused.
Today they picked juries for two trials. One starting next week and one starting the week after. They'll be able to tell you the trial starting date and approximate length so you know if your travel conflicts.
