Saturday's game had everything going for it.
- The early 3 goal deficit
- Hiller pulled for Ramo
- Ferland cementing his legend status for this playoff year
- The comeback (twice)
- Stajan netting the winner
- The crowd going insane
- The top line getting 10 points
- Eliminating the Canucks
Without a doubt the most fun I've ever had in attendance at a game.
It wasn't the MOST important win, but you could make a case that it's top 5.
I wasn't the best hockey either, it was a pretty sloppy game.
But to define "Best" flames game ever? its so subjective but this one has to rank right up there. Since I've been following the team (mid 90's) the only one's I can compare this to are 2004 game 7 against Vancouver, and 2004 Game 6 against Detroit. The Sarich hit against Marleau, that game is close but losing that series takes the thunder away for me.
Saturday's game may top my list. its close.

For top home games its this past Saturday and 2004, game 6 against the Wings.
Both were equally nuts and who would have thought we'd have a game like this at the start of the season?!!!

Agree: May 25, 1989.
Lanny for the win. The unbelievable crowd in Montreal staying, standing and cheering our boys. Tears in my eyes.
I lived close to 17th Ave then - there was quite a party on the street - lots of "We are the Champions", honking and people. For the day - it was amazing.

Its different when you aren't emotionally invested in it at the time it happens. Watching old games does absolutely nothing for most people if they weren't involved at the time it took place.
That's why this is a good question. Everyone will (and should) have a different answer for their own reasons.

Maybe not the "Best of the Best" playoff games but maybe the "First of the Best" playoff games?
Oilers v Flames - Game 6 - Smythe Division Final - April 20, 1984
Lanny scores in OT to force Game 7 in Edmonton
First time there was real bedlam in (and out) of the Dome

Yes, if you are Montreal and have won 24 Cups - each will have a different answer.
When a franchise has won one, there is only one answer. If you wish to qualify it by ignoring the Cup win, so be it.

Hey, by the way, are you satisfied that the Dome is no longer "the library" and the quietest arena in north american pro sports?
In all seriousness, I wonder how the Dome now compares to back in the 80s etc.

In terms of games I was in attendance at: - Game 6 against Detroit, Round 2, 2004
- Game 6 against Vancouver, Round 1, 2015
- Game 3 against San Jose, Round 1, 2008
Those damned early 3-0 deficits. It's nice when they erase them and win though.

Its not ignoring anything.
Defining the "Best playoff game in Flames history" is an extremely subjective question.
That cup win to me meant nothing, I was 4 years old. To others, it was the greatest moment of their hockey watching lives.
It's all relative to the scope of how long you've followed the team. I don't know why anyone would be upset by someone picking a different game. its an opinion.

K I don't think anyone will disagree that it was the most important win in Flames history or anything like that but it's really not the same for someone like me who wasn't around when it happened.
I watched the game when they were playing it on CBC a few years ago. It's cool to see but you're not invested in at all. You don't get any memories or anything like that. It's just "neat".

Absolutely. We are playing with semantics a bit here.
Assuming OP asks the question ignoring the Cup win works perfect for me.

The question was 'Best playoff game in Flames History' though, not best playoff game in your personal viewing experience.

It really doesn't matter, picking the best is the subjective part.
Obviously that's the most important game in franchise history. Nobody can argue that. What some of us are talking about is a different beast I suppose.

I still claim that the Steve Smith goal was the most memorable sporting moment in Alberta's history.

If you meant the GWG, that's a common misconception - Gilmour's was the GWG.
