With the emergence of Ferland it would have been awesome to have Bouma in there blasting guys as well. Sibisa wouldn't even look at the puck anymore.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames D Raphael Diaz (lower-body) skated early this morning. Slowly, but it's a step in right direction.

ACL injury I'm guessing based on the impact he took.

Listening to NHL radio on Sirius and they said if the flames make it to the 2nd round Gio will return. This contradicts everything I've heard so far is there any other news on this?

Had an idea!

No idea where they would be getting their information from. Gio himself has said he needs to see the surgeon again before he has a clue how his rehab is even going.
He thinks he is ahead of schedule but he's obviously not sure.

Yeah that seems wildly optimistic. Original diagnosis was 4-6 months, it's been 2.
Don't want him to come back in before he's ready and risk a aggravating a serious injury. In the Finals, sure, but not the second round where Anaheim would be heavily favored either way.

I'm hoping he comes back healthy for camp next fall.

Gio's hopes of coming back remain in tact.
As well as Bouma and the other injured guys.
Hopefully Bouma can come back this series against the Ducks.

I have no hope of seeing Gio this season, but Bouma and Diaz (especially Diaz) would be huge. Though I honestly don't see why Wotherspoon doesn't get played more.

He coughed up the puck that led to the Canucks first goal and wasn't relied on much after that. He was Ramholted basically.

I think during the telecast tonight Scott Oake said that if Gio comes back it could be for late in the third round.
Really need Bouma back. Dealing with Kesler/Perry is going to be tougher with Bieksa/Burrows and Ferland is gonna need help. And checking Getzlaf won't be like checking the Sedins.
Wotherspoon was caught on the first Canuck goal, that didn't help his chances of getting more ice time tonight. Though I think with a few days to prepare until round 2 starts he might be ready for regular minutes this time since he won't be thrown in the middle of a series.

About Byron, damn, I was hoping to see him back already.
Fantastic to get this series done anyway with so many valuable guys missing.
Reinforcements in the third round then...

It might be interesting to unleash the Wolf on Anaheim. That would certainly help decrease their size advantage a bit.

Wolf isn't a good enough skater in my opinion. He would be exploited by the Ducks and wouldn't be effective in the hitting department because of his speed.
