This is why just because the Flames play rookies in the lineup, it does NOT make us the Oilers.

Difference is our rookies are well developed, well coached, and have high character and IQ and buy in to the team concept.

I would say it's also because our rookies are mostly forwards, and they are put on lines with veteran forwards and more importantly, vet defensemen. NTTAWWT - we're putting our rookies into positions to succeed. Once it's time to roll in rookie defensemen, they'll have veteran forwards in front of them to ease the pressure. Sam Bennett wasn't thrown to the dogs, he was put in a position to succeed within his limitations and skillsets. Something the E=NGs refuse to do even next year, where they plan to "stay the course".

True - Johnny and Monahan get Hudler. Bennett got Backlund, Ferland gets Stajan and Jones, Jooris and Granlund gets Bollig. Plus each line has a good defensive player to balance out any mistakes, as well as the good back end.

Default Flames 2 Canucks 1 (Lead Series 1-0)

The internet hasn't made it to many parts of Saskatchewan yet so the Facebook stats are misleading

Edit: and then the post I'm referring to gets moved.....

^ what a load of crap. No one outside of BC likes the canucks, at least not significantly more than like CGY. I can see oiler fans cheering for them but that's about it. Realistically there's probably mostly indifference to this series outside of BC/AB/SK.

LA's tweet a few years ago when they knocked them out was bang on :"To the rest of Canada, you're welcome" That didn't come from nowhere. There is a legitimate distaste for the stinking divers across this country.

I agree. Great write up. I fell out of my chair when they scored !!! Another thing the Flames did in the 3rd period was roll those lines. What was their shift length. Probably averaged less than 30 seconds. They wore the Canucks out in the 3rd period. Wow!!! Keep it going boys.

My biggest concern is the fact that the Flames have only 5 NHL d-men for this series.

Wideman 30:03 hit 3 times, Russell 29:07 hit 4 times, Brodie 26:05 hit 3 times.

Meanwhile the Flames were targeting the weakest link in the Canucks defense Weber who was only on for 19 minutes.

As good as it was getting a big boost from Bennett it would nice to have a defenseman or 2 like Commodore and Montador waiting in the wings to play 12-15 minutes a game.

If we get some OT games the Flames big 3 might need to carry oxygen tanks.
