It's weird though, because you wouldn't think they'd be resting him the day before game 1. Sure, give him the weekend off to recharge, and maybe even yesterday, but it should be all hands on deck today. Cause for some concern.

Lol I know it sounded that way but that's not really how I meant it.

He knows the systems, he's in shape, he doesn't need the conditioning or a refresher on gameplay. He just needs rest. I imagine Hartley is looking to lean on him as much as possible. My thoughts anyways.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
With Monahan gone, #Flames lines are:
Hudler-Colborne-Gaudreau;
Ferland-Stajan-Jones;
Bennett-Backlund-Byron;
Bollig-Granlund-Jooris

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Caution not to read too much into lines today. Monahan leaving throws everything off. Hartley said yesterday he'd play in game 1. #Flames

Hartley has some tough decisions if both Byron and Bennett are looking to work their way into the lineup.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
The more I see, the more I think Sam Bennett is in for #Flames in Game 1 vs. #Canucks. We'll see! #CGYvsVAN

I know, I agree with you, it just sounded funny. And yeah, at this point in the season he probably needs maintenance more than anything.

No Monahan could be a real problem!
Hopefully it's nothing major. Not sure we could sustain a loss like that and still make any noise in the playoffs.

Makes sense. He's going to work certain players hard, Monahan especially. A extra half day rest before the playoffs start could be huge.

I also wouldn't mind to see slightly heavier minutes (20-40%) with our lower D pairings to start the series to rest the top lines and give them a chance to step up. If they perform, excellent. If not, back to plan A.

I agree...But sounds like what we said about Giordano two months ago hahaha. But Monahan would be the last straw I think

At a pool last night I was worried that Mony had missed a practice, everyone said I was crazy. Please don't be anything serious.
