Would've hoped for a better showing by the kids this afternoon. Bennett looked good though.

no, he played well but nobodt against LA or Arizona gave a reason to be pulled out and Bennett was solid but didn't do enough to push someone out

I think he stays up. Don't think he see's ice time unless we run
into injuries though. He will be an awesome player for the Flames, just not
this year.

It takes time

No, and for one reason: Sam Bennett was not part of the group that got this team to the playoffs in the first place. Raymond bugs me as much as the next guy, but what a slap in the face that would be to him to scratch him. Bennett will be a big part of this team for a long time, he will get his chance, but this year I fully hope and expect them to show loyalty to the guys who battled all year long, not the 18 year old who has played 1 NHL game.

Only if another C gets Injured. So unlikely he starts game 1.

Agree with the majority, no. The margins in the playoffs are so small. Plus we have guys in the roster who have done more to earn that spot. Would not however surprise me at all to see him get a game in somewhere. Injuries will happen, and he's not a bad option to have.

In any case, the in our coaching staff I trust.

Really depends on who's injured

So many options

Locks:
Gaudreau
Hudler
Monahan
Backlund
Jones
Jorris
Stajan

Injured but would draw in if healthy:
Bouma
Byron

Likely In but could play their way off:
Colborne
Raymond
Bollig

Likely Out trying to find the way into the lineup:
Ferland (I honestly think hes cemented his way into the lineup being the best player against Jets)
Granlund
Bennett
Shore

If entirely healthy my guess would be:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - Jones
Colborne - Stajan - Raymond
Ferland - Jooris - Byron

Default I still think of this as a rebuilding year.

Amazingly ahead of schedule by making playoffs.
and anything can happen in playoffs.
But Flames may not make playoffs next year.
and Bennet will be big part of eventual future contender.
So I think they will find a way to get him in - even if not first game - for his benefit.

Yeha I would say no one has really earned being on the team game 1 from today, except Wotherspoon should be in for Potter IMO, but that's not the question. Depending on who doesn't play, I think Shore/Granlund should get in before Bennett does.

I don't think Bennett plays unless half the forward group is out with injuries. I'm not a Bennett hater or anything, but it's so obvious he's not ready for the NHL just yet, let alone a playoff series. I'm sure he'll get there and he'll be a hell of a player, just not this year.

Going with the group, I think he's a wildcard if things become unhinged.. that being said, I truly think we have the group to get the job done.

He needs time to figure out how to play the way he wants against NHLers. It looked to me like he was trying some moves today that weren't quite good enough.
Granlund looked like a vet out there with the call-ups.

What if sitting Raymond in Game 1 (for Bennett) lit a fire under him?

Bennett likely sits for Game 1. But expect Raymond to be on a short leash - if he doesn't bring it we could be seeing Bennett in Game 2.
