Speaking strictly from a development point of view, I'd be more then comfortable leaving Jankowski in the capable hands of Friars coach Nate Leeman for his final year.

If he gets signed and plays in the AHL, that's awesome, but we shouldn't worry in the slightest about the program he's running there.

Was not suggesting anything of the sort - great program and great coach.

What I said was that - after 3 years - he has learned hat he's going to learn from it.

Frozen Four teams sporting a hefty amount of (already claimed) NHL talent.
Quote:
There are currently 35 players in the Frozen Four who have had the privilege of hearing their name called on draft day -- a number that undoubtedly will grow on June 26.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames have the most amount of draftees playing in the Frozen Four.

Of the draftees, there are 17 forwards and 16 defensemen. The only two goaltenders to be drafted are North Dakota's Zane McIntyre and Providence's John Gilles.

The Fab Four: No. 2 BU’s freshman defensemen prove they can handle the blue line
Quote:
But Hickey, a third-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, doesn’t think his offense is the best part of his game. Certainly, his shot has grown more powerful and more accurate over his past two years in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and at BU — his juniors coach helped him refine that.

At the end of the day, his best abilities, he feels, lie in his roots as a defenseman.

“I think my defending is my biggest contribution,” Hickey said. “I like playing d-zones. Not very many people do. I take pride in my d-zone play.”

That’s a believable statement. Hickey leads the team in blocked shots, with 87 on the year — a significant margin over Sombery’s 50 blocked shots.

His talents don’t stop there. Grzelcyk said he views Hickey as one of the best skaters on the whole team, as a physical player and as a complete, all-around athlete.

That lineup card is a good reminder of how young Jankowski actually still is.

He's in his third year of college and there are still only three players on the team younger than he is, and only one of those is more than a year younger.

4th youngest skater on the team, 2nd youngest forward. Not bad at all.

Could Janko turn pro this year? I think he could without much ado.

Jankowski has excelled at developing his defensive game under Leeman and was the primary point of development for Janko outside of adding body mass and learning to play at a high level with that extra weight.

If he does turn pro. I think he is going to surprise next camp with his offense.

Maybe, maybe not. With Ross Mauermann being a senior and Noel Acciari possibly going pro I think a 4th year in College could provide a lot of new opportunities for Jankowski. He's leaned on by Coach Leaman in plenty of areas now but he could potentially be "the guy" up front for the Friars.

If they go back for their senior years, I could see both Jankowski and Gilmour wearing a letter for the Friars. If Acciari turns pro, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jankowski with the C.

That might impress the future boss.

IMO Djanko should stay at Providence 1 more year. With fewer games in the schedule, he could spend more time in the squat rack and continue to get physically bigger/stronger.

I think he would still sign with Calgary after 4 years, there are a lot of people in this city who are hoping he will succeed.

Now I know why Jankowski has no stats.

His linemates have no finish. What a pass.

The PBP guy mentioned Flames drafted 4 players playing in Providence. He is wrong as he counted Florentino(drafted by Buffalo) as Calgary property. Should only be 3 with D John Gilmour, C Jankowski and G Gilles. Not sure why he thinks Florentino were drafted by Calgary.
