He injured himself on an odd play, just stretching out for the puck and looked like he tweaked his groin or something

Pretty much a fluke accident. Went down to make a save on a shot from far out, no traffic or anything and came up lame. Left the game with no weight on his left leg.

UofA goaltender is the emergency backup tonight and was called to be on standby

Golden Bears Hockey @GBHKY
One of our very own, Ryan Demharter, is backing up Jonas Hiller tonight for the @NHLFlames on an emergency basis after a Karri Ramo injury!

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
On the #Flames goalie front, Treliving said yesterday Joni Ortio has resumed skating lightly, but no return date set yet.

He's out for two weeks likely and there is no one to call up in my opinion.

You wait until the 9th and then Sign Gillies. Bring up Theissen to finish the season and let Hiller play every minute until Ramo or Ortio gets healthy.

KHL season is over for most teams -- maybe former Flames Leland Irving or Danny Taylor get a look?

Maybe a good time to throw an offer to Matt O'Connor.

Any UFA player that played in a European pro league after the start of the NHL regular season would have to clear waivers before signing a NHL contract.

Matt O'Connor is in the same boat as Gillies, playing for a national title on April 9th and maybe 11th. O'Connor as an UFA would be ineligible for playoffs.

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Saw #Flames Karri Ramo in the room briefly. Didn’t have a cast or anything on his leg. May have had a slight limp, but nothing pronounced

Back up situation looks bleak. Good thing there are only 3 games left.
Hiller will be the playoff goalie and he is looking for personal redemption from his last playoffs.

Certainly doesn't look like a day to day thing the way he came off the ice, and certainly if its a hamstring.

Cassie Campbell actually mentioned during the game that a goalie from University of Alberta is the emergency backup. I can't remember his name. Thank god we didn't need that guy.

nvm... i guess you already mentioned it earlier.

Thanks to University of Alberta goalie Ryan Demharter who was able to come down to Rexall and gear up, just in case.

So the Flames literally had 4 different guys dress last night as Goaltenders?

Awesome...and has to be a record of some sort.
