I accidentally clicked thanks for the post on this. Lanny might be getting a little long in the tooth but any true Flames fan knows he is owed a lifetime of respect.

I would strongly beg to differ.

Mr. McDonald is an exemplary individual (inaugural winner of the King Clancy Humanitarian Award) fully deserving of his place in the HHOF.

Don't diss on the Big Mac.

Lanny is a Prince.

My dad is his biggest fan, and 3 years ago, I wanted to give him a signed Lanny jersey to replace the one I lost when I was a kid. I know his daughter through business, and she sent the package down to Montana where he was, 2 hours from an airport, and not only did he drive to the airport to sign the thing, he packed in a bunch of other memorabilia, and sent it back on his own dime to make sure it made it in time for Christmas.

Lanny has never forgotten about his fans. And is probably the nicest ex-NHLer you will ever meet.

As getbak says, Ford won't be on the selection committee. If he's very lucky, he'll get to vote on what colour to paint the fire doors, and whether to fire the janitor or trade him for future considerations.

Likely he gets this job because he has to do some kind of committee work, and this is the place where he will do the least damage.

Lanny McDonald is Calgary Flames Ground Zero. Before the trade, they were transplanted Atlantans.

Don't diss the 9.

Was just watching the reporters on tsn and heard one of them say

Rob Ford is now closer to the Stanley Cup than anyone in Toronto has been in years.

Toronto City Council probably put him on because he's got to have some appointments and the Hall facility is so well run by staff he doesn't have to actually do anything.

Not yet but I'm sure he'll be a Forded a better opportunity in the near future.

I'm actually a huge fan of Fleury the player. I just couldn't resist the setup.

Unfortunately, Ford will lend a touch of class to the HHOF.

He is a Flames legend but his views on the HHOF isn't going to change. Listen to his interviews. It's very insular.
