Why bother responding? Some people didn't even read my first post correctly. The gloves have been paid for and picked up by a member from here.
Mods feel free to close this up. Thank you.

I would have helped you out if I actually lived close enough to do it. Maybe I'm too trusting. I'm glad someone helped you.

So how exactly would the OP be able to use PayPal to defraud someone in this instance anyway? By cancelling payment after claiming he never received the merchandise?

He appears to have used a real name. Even if he had hijacked someone's name just for this, or created a fake name and generated a full internet persona, seems like a lot of work for what is probably a $50 item.

He would claim the items never arrived and use Paypals "dispute" function. The problem with this is Paypal sides with the buyer 95% of the time. So he will get his money back and gets to keep the item he bought.

But as you said this actually appears genuine. But with the recent paypal scams it always makes people wary.

The member that helped me out was paid through Paypal as a "gift" which cannot be disputed, as if i were to send as "goods or services" which yes a case could be opened up. But now the member here has my money and items as they have not been shipped, so I am taking just as a big of a risk on doing this on my side.

Technically....Paypal "gifts" can still be disputed, but that's beside the point.
I've been in contact with the OP via email. Wife had the gloves dropped off to her at COP while she was there, and we're mailing them out soon. I'm not extremely worried about it.
Best case scenario...all goes well, and I get to feel good for doing a favor to a random stranger.
Worst case scenario...I get burnt, have $180ish less to feed my kids with, and y'all are free to say I told ya so, and lol at me.

Thanks! I guess my first post wasn't the best way to break the ice here. But maybe over time other members will see I'm not here to scam anyone.

Bump.

I want to know what happened?
Did JD get scammed? Did he keep the gloves for himself? Did aliens break into his home and impregnate his dog?

This is the opposite of every online shopping experience I've ever had where I wanted to buy something but they won't ship to Canada.

I was suspicious because I thought there would be lots of places to get hockey gloves in the US but it turns out these are game-worn Kotalik gloves.

Who would want Kotalik gloves though?

Sorry I jumped in late, I would have bought the gloves in exchange for a round of beers the next time I am in the area. Kotalik and Clark Wilm are my two favorite flames of all time.
