Simply put, if the Stars can go 9-0-0 we can go 5-0-0 and clench
I think if we go 5-0 we can then un-clench.

My gut has them only getting 4, and ending the season with 95 points. Is that in? Likely not, but possible.

I think the labels might be slightly off. 5-6 points only puts us solidly in the fight if LA and Winnipeg's schedule actually means something. Which so far, it has not.

We probably need 6 or 7, plus a win against Arizona, to be in a good position coming into those last two games.

Spoiler!

I'm starting to get this sense as well. Out of all the teams in the mix, we look to be the weakest link at the moment, and we just haven't (understandably) had the same level of energy for the last few weeks that we had before.

Hopefully this team has one more push in them this season...and then hope for some extra energy in the playoffs. Either way, it's a learning moment.

Five points.

It all boils down to the last two games.

2-0-3. Hiller switches on God mode and we somehow walk away with 7 out of 10 points.

I think lots of us already are...

Edit: To add prediction:

Beat Minnesota 3-1 with an empty netter. Monahan gets 2, Brodie with the winner;
Beat Nashville 4-2. Backlund hits 10, Gaudreau, Hudler and Masonraymond. Hiller stops 42 shots;
Lose to Dallas in overtime 3-2. Monahan and Wideman. Benn gets the winner;
Lose to St. Loo 3-1. They get an empty netter. Best game against them of the year. Bouma. Outshot by 5;
Beat Edmonton 6-2. They just aren't very good. Monahan, Gaudreau, Hudler (2), Russell and Bollig. First line nets 13 points.

Equals 3-1-1, and come home with 94 points. Kings go 3-2 over the same time frame (92), Jets go 2-1-1 (93) and Canucks go 2-2-2 (96).

OTL - L - W - OTL - W = 6

93 points with 3 games remaining. It will be really said if that isn't enough to still be in the mix.

5 out of 10 points, although with this team it's hard to predict. They seem to possess uncanny ability to come through in spite of the odds. They have that "Cinderella" quality, and would be a joy to watch in the playoffs.

Even though they have performed admirably without Giordano, I think without him they have too much of an uphill battle. The teams we have to beat are too strong offensively, and their defence is stronger. I'll love this team no matter what happens.

I went with the minority view and voted 7-8 pts. I think they go 3-1-1 for 7 pts. They defeat Minnesota, Dallas and Edmonton, OT loss to the Preds and loss to the Blues.
Rationale as follows;

The Flames have two traits that I think will work in their favour (i) they feel good about their game on the road and (ii) all year long these guys have come through when their backs were to the wall. GFG.

Well I can only guarantee one win, but I expect 6 points total. The win I guarantee will be April 4th and for two reasons.

1. It's the Oilers, I mean come on.
2. It's my 40th BDay and the rare occasions the Flames play on my birthday they win to my old man memory. So yeah

Edmonton - Win

2-1-2, same as the homestand.

I'm not feeling super optimistic, but I figure 5 to 6 points, St Louis and Minny scare me quite a bit, but I think the hockey gods owe us a win against the Wild.

I would imagine Hiller will be in for the Nashville game then.

4-4-0 puts us just as likely to finish 3rd in the Pacific as 9th in the Western Conference.

I expect 2-2-1 on this trip. 2-1 over the last three games and bring on the playoffs!
