Voted for SJ and Minnesota. SJ's window is now closed and a rebuild is looming. If they pull it off right and sell high, they can be back in contention quickly and for a long time again. MIN because I hate how they are riding the coattails of a former Oiler and he's getting hot at the right time. If they even make the dance, I see them being a team that knocked out in the 1st round. I also hate how they signed Parise and Suter to dumb longterm contracts and for that they should be punished by not making the playoffs. They are just an annoying team that is always hanging around.

LA I don't see missing at all. I predicted them to go on some crazy 11-1 run to the end season and I'm sticking by that.

Winnipeg and San Jose seem to be the likeliest scenario at this point. Winnipeg fans are starting to realize this themselves. They're no longer getting outstanding performances from Hutchinson and Pavelec is choking under any kind of pressure as usual.

And Dubnyk looks ready for some playoff hockey, he's been starved with the Oilers. Hard schedule or not for Minnesota, amazing goaltending can win any of those games.

I agree with the San Jose and Winnipeg choices, but Vancouver must be worried, no?

They look god damned awful last night, and have done for most of the season. Regardless of whether they make it or not, the off-season should be interesting in Vancouver.

Unless we call up Hellebuyck, we're screwed. Jets will not make the playoffs.

Chevy has done a relatively good job. The fact that many players don't want to come to Winnipeg, he really pulled one out of a hat in terms of the Kane trade. However, his blind loyalty to Pavelec from 2011-15 has cost us. He should call up Hellebuyck, as teams have figured out hutch- high and blocker side. Our goaltending coach Wade Flaherty needs to go.

No way does Minny miss. Yes, they have a tough schedule. That doesn't mean squat. Yes, they are the hottest team in the NHL - that also means squat.

The Edmonton Oilers pissed off the hockey Gods by embracing losing, and laughing and smirking through all those draft lotteries and subsequent drafts. They are being punished.

What better way to kick them in the nuts then by their provincial rival showing them how it is done and getting to the playoffs way ahead of schedule, and they once again looking like one of the favorites to pick 1st overall?

How about adding Dubynk - a pretty decent goalie they screwed up, who they blamed for ALL their woes and was scapegoated off that team only to then lead another team into the playoffs?

I don't need to know how good Minny is, or how tough their schedule is. All I know is that Wild will make it because Edmonton is no good and is being further embarrassed.

Was going to do the QOTD on the Jets today until I saw this topic. I think the Jets cooked themselves last night. No points in two games, fall behind LA, Calgary can go up 3 with a win over the Leafs tonight with even games.

Club sports stats has them needing to go 8-4-1 to get a 67% chance at a playoff spot, and their schedule is 2nd only to Minnesota for difficulty.

I think the Jets have cooked themselves, especially if Myers is hurt (haven't heard yet)

What has Chevy accomplished? Zilch. He has very smart youth scouts to tell him what to do ... and even hockey experts loving our prospects means zilch. It shouldn't take 4 years to figure out a 3rd and 4th line, and have average goaltending (which Id settle for at this time).

The only reason he had to trade Kane, btw, is because he didn't see the writing on the wall and likely could have got a much better return last off season.

Chevy tried to have his cake and eat it too. He wanted to draft and develop the team while hoping his Atlanta core would buy him a post season or two. So instead of trading away the old core (which has accomplished nothing and aged 4 year to boot) he's wasted essentially 4 years.

Had he traded away guys like Ladd or Buff or Wheeler before for high picks, going into next season we would have had even more talented youth and a real shot at doing something. In 4 years he couldn't work the trade market, wavier wire, or free agency to properly build a bottom 6. It's not even worth discussing pavelec. So now going into next season we have to hope for a lot of our prospects to be home runs... and still figure out goaltending. In year 5.

The man is a buffoon.
