Does it even matter anymore, he is no longer a prospect of this hockey club. Let's all move on, and cheer for people on OUR team to make a run for the ........

And yes, I also agree with the above posters that there should be no more Sven threads. I feel like continuing to discuss the matter is just adding unnecessary grievance to the fanbase. He's no longer our prospect and we have a whole bunch of other fantastic ones to be concerned of right now.

In fairness, I think we need to acknowledge the role of the agent-player relationship here. In all likelihood, the player probably let his general feelings and intentions known to his agent and it's the agents style more than anything that's reflected in dealings with the team. It was probably like "hey, I'm really starting to not be happy in Calgary, let's explore other options" and then the agent did what he had to do to make it happen to the maximum benefit of his client.
That being said now that Sven is Canucks property, he has adopted their stink and it seems to fit him well. I cheer for clothes, not players.

Technically true is it not. Didn't ask for a trade, but with an expiring contract made it clear he wouldn't sign.
What difference does it make? Basically what he said was, I just want to be in the NHL, Calgary wasn't handing that to me so we are going to try our luck elsewhere. Sounds good to me.

A rookie thinking he needs his agent to "find a solution" to play in the NHL is doing it wrong. Sven was told what he needed to do.
|
If he wanted an easy way to the NHL he should have asked his agent to find a way to get him into the Oilers organization.

Wasn't that pic from when the flames honored Nieuwendyk last year and everyone wore jersey's with the C and his name on the back? I am likely wrong though or is it just photoshopped?

Go back to when Luongo was traded and he says the exact same words.
That is just the polite way of phrasing asking for a trade.

You are correct. Not photoshopped. Just a glimpse into the future.

At least in his quotes over the years I have seen no evidence of ability to act like an adult.

Likely not but even so it seems ridiculous to judge someone based upon what is obviously a business decision in which he is attempting to maximize his potential career earnings. I wish that people would stop taking things like this as seriously as they seem to, with vendettas against a player based upon some mysterious disrespect or supposed immaturity that they have conjured up based on random quotes.

What do you mean? Just what he has said in the various interviews, good and bad. I specifically recall him being sent back to junior and talking like someone had killed his dog.

Sven is just arguing semantics. He should own up to what he has said and/or done, just like everyone else.
