Took a buddy of mine, who is a huge Red Wings fan, to see the Red Wings play for the first time live when they came into town, we lost.

Time to reap the benefits of doing a good deed. Flames win!

Jonas Hiller will start in net for #Flames vs. #Wings 3 games 4 nights. Back to Back games Ramo could use a break.

Matt Stajan and Michael Ferland come into the lineup for #Flames. Vs #Wings. Emile Poirier is out

Roger Millions @RogMillions

I thought Poirier had a good game in Philly, but didn't see last night. 4 minutes of ice time in an overtime game with a depleted bench makes me think maybe he didn't

Agreed. I find Brodie has struggled quite a bit in games vs Toronto and Detroit early in his career. Seems he tries to s too much playing in front of family and friends. Hope he rips it up. He's been unreal these past few years.

Our bottom 3 D have to step up. Top 3 are going to be bagged. Wonder if Schlemko is going to be playing with confidence now.

I'm looking for Stajan to get into the lineup with some fresh legs and take some pressure off Monahan, moving through the lines to give him a break.

The Wings are tough, looking forward to seeing how the boys respond tonight. Looking for Colborne to get his game going and his feet moving, he's awesome when he's engaged but sometimes looks a bit disinterested and a non-factor.

Roger Millions @RogMillions
#Flames prob. Lines - Gaudreau Monahan Hudler- Bollig Stajan Ferland- Bouma Backlund Colborne - Raymond Shore Jooris-

I would rather Bollig sit (and i'm not a hater), but when I think about it, in the minutes that Poirier did have, he was not noticeable. Maybe he needs a kick in the butt to get him started.

When these kids get called up, they have to show energy and desire, they can't coast around. They have to catch the coach's eye in a good way. Ferland and Poirier's first couple of games were noticeable but the last few, they've been passengers.

When Jooris was called up, he had a good 2 to 3 week of good play before tailing off. Ferland and Poirier need the same if they want to stick in the NHL.

Exactly what I thought. Good to see Gaudreau force himself back to Monahan and Hudler.

Doesn't sound like Jones is too bad:
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Jones is sore from a blocked shot in Boston. Emile Poirier is a healthy scratch says Coach Hartley

Maybe just some swelling?

It felt like he was out there more....maybe because I was looking for him.

Well, I was going to say something. Flames got the calls in Boston, but they won't get those calls in Detroit.

Its not like he hasn't proved that already a number of times before this season.
Lets not lose sight Hiller has 19 wins Ramo has 12.
Hiller has a 2.46 vs Ramo 2.43. Not much difference.
Hiller has a .913 to Ramo's .917 again not much difference

Hiller starting is the safe bet. Both goalies have had stretches of superb goaltending, but both of them have also had their worst stretches after increased workload. Ramo is possibly approaching that possibility after 5 consecutive GP, so he needs the rest to stay sharp. Hiller has had a lot of rest lately, so he should be focused and motivated tonight. With our D core depleted we need both our goalies to play lights out to stay in the playoff picture.

Hard these days to claim any sort of ref bias when the flames have so many more PPs than pks! Lol

Yeah I agree. Boston had a tonne of penalties, but they deserved them all and STILL got away with a bunch.

Heck Bouma got cut with a highstick right away, Brodie got hit with another right before we took our first penalty. Later on the Sportsnet feed they showed a rush by Shore where he got blatantly hooked twice without drawing a call.
