Think of it more as Jooris and Colborne have been promoted to Johnny's line.

I like the new lines. Raymonds value seems to increase a lot with those two.

5:30 games are perfect. I can go home, pour a drink, relax, and turn on the tv.

5:00 games make me have to sneak out of the office early.

5:00 games are perfect if you ask me. Set the PVR. Leisurely head home. Have a couple beers and chat up the wife. Then start watching the game at about 6:00 or 6:30. Skip through Telus and Rav4 commercials. Profit!

I'm not surprised JG has been taken off the top line. With the quality of competition higher now being in the playoff push for most teams, and him seemingly taking a step back these last few weeks it makes sense to get him some easier defensively match up to try and get him going. Perhaps a few less untimely turnovers by playing a simpler game as well.

Tough luck for the Bruins with Connolly's broken finger.

I much prefer the 530 starts, so much better then starting at 8pm or 830 pm on a weekday.

Gaudreau on line 3 with 2 bottom 6 line mates makes no sense. Taking him off the #1 PP unit is even worse.

I don't view it as a demotion for Johnny. But if it is, it's evidence of Earned Not Given. Johnny has been OK, but not fantastic. His last game had lots of energy and of course a nifty tip to Brodie on the fly in OT. But his passes have been a hair off lately and he's been getting caught more often. PLus he's now up to 6 pms :0

I think moving Johnny down helps improve the whole lineup, they can't just focus on the Monahan line since its the most dangerous line with Johnny on it. It helps spread the scoring around with Colborne playing well and hopefully Johnny can get Jooris going again, and allows Backs line to take the tougher matchups if possible.

Two comments.

1.Hartley frequently adjusts lines based on who's going and who isn't - so starting lines can change quickly

2. Hartley may know or be seeing something that we don't - I would trust his judgement on these matters.

I like Jooris with Johnny because he can get into the dirty areas and find the puck to get it to Johnny. Colborne might be able to do it too, though he's an enigma amongst enigmas.

Monahan is a good player in the neutral zone with the puck, but all too often Johnny's line had to dig the puck out of the corners and were getting bullied around. That's not a knock on Hudler OR Monahan, but simply that you had three players who were all too similar playing together.

I'd prefer Gaudreau-Backlund-Jooris personally, but I'm okay with this line too.

I am however nervous about Raymond on the top line.

I could maybe live with the 5 on 5 demotion to spread things out, though I'm not sure that ever works., but taking him off the #1 PP doesn't help anything.

Where are you getting the PP lines? I can't see them in this thread.

That said, the PP sucked in the past few games, even worse than usual. Last game it really missed Gio.

I thought Ferland-Shore-Poirier looked good last game.

Disappointed Ferland draws out, Bollig better be doing something out there tonight.

Johnny on a line with Colborne didn't look very good at all. I would love to see Gaudreau with Backlund to see what they might do. Could be magic.

Something like:

Raymond-Monahan-Hudler
Gaudreau-Backlund-Jones
Bouma-Jooris-Colborne
Ferland-Shore-Poirier

Really wish we could have got rid of Matt Stajan at the deadline. You know he will probably be slotted in for Shore soon. Shore looked good vs. Phi, 5 of 7 faceoffs for a 71% FO rating, 3 hits, and a blocked shot in 12 mins of very energetic play.
