Gio has been a monster all season. Brodie Russell and Wideman have been having career NHL season to date... How in the world can anyone expect them to play better and pick up the slack.

At times like these I hope the flames refer refer to Mr. Bill Pullman in Independence Day...

"Good evening. In less than a day... players from here will join others from Adirondack and Calgary... and you will be launching the greatest push for the playoffs in the history of the team. Team... that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty trade suggestions any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Trade Deadline Day, and the Flames will once again be preparing for the biggest game of the year. Not for McDavid, or Eichel... but for a playoff spot. We're fighting for our chance to play. To play in late April. And should we win the day, the Trade Deadline Day will no longer be known as a TSN panel day... but as the day when the flames declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to play on, we're going to survive.' Today we celebrate our Giordano Day!"

Go away. Go be negative in the injury thread. This thread was created for those of us who choose to remain positive and optimistic about this season. It has nothing to do with diminishing Giordano's accomplishments.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here, I still believe in this group!

Coming up on the end of the season. Playoff hopes look bleak and losing seems inevitable without the Captain.

If only the 2014/15 Calgary Flames were a team that knew how to come back and find a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. If only...

So, who is left and who is healthy? When are Byron and Smid back? Any news on the Stajans?

I presume Raymond fills the Glencross spot. I also presume Shore starts on the 4th line and works his way up. Beyond that, Poirier would be better served with some more seasoning in the AHL. Granlund and Arnold are the only decent centremen in the organisation who are eligible to play in the AHL so I think they stay down. Ferland could probably contribute on the 4th line, but Bollig may as well earn his salary on the ice and let Ferland continue his development.

I'd ice:

Gaudreau Monahan Hudler
Bouma Backlund Jones
Raymond Colborne Jooris
Bollig Stajan Shore

Russell Wideman
Brodie Diaz
Schlemko Engelland

Ramo
Hiller

Top 9 in line rushes today:

Raymond-Monahan-Hudler
Gaudreau-Jooris-Colborne
Bouma-Backlund-Jones

4th line is up in the air with the kids sent back and Stajan not around. Likely Bollig-Shore-X

On D, something about a screaming bag of cats and TJ Brodie.

Assuming Ramo will start.

There should be lots of photos of cars and ketchup in this thread. Probably lots of star trek as well. And Scorches. Daily Scorches.

Let the chips fall where they may. This season has been fun to follow, that's for sure. If they miss, they miss.

If there's any justice in hockey, Flames would win the draft lottery if they miss out on the playoffs.

I've just ordered 20 chickens so that I can sacrifice one each game and dedicate it to Jobu.

How does the D shape up now? We cant do musical chairs the rest of the season back there..

Brodie-Shlemko
Russell-Wideman
Engelland-Diaz?

Brodie-Russell (can take bulk of time against top opposition)
Shlemko-Wideman
Engelland-Diaz?

Maybe Wotherspoon finally draws in for good.

I have no idea..

It really is disappointing how many people are throwing in the towel on here when this team has done nothing but shock the hockey world all damn year. Picked to finish near dead last? In a playoff spot. Lose 8 in a row? In a playoff spot. Lose the Captain? Guess what?
Don't ever stop believing!

I reallllly want to be that optimistic, but Gaudreau is clearly getting worn down, Hudler isn't producing and Wideman hasn't scored in months. I just don't know where the offense is gonna come from. Adding to that the fact that were in the midst of a road trip against opponents we haven't played well this season. There is just no indication that they'll suddenly turn a corner.

That being said I truly hope they break out with a blowout win tomorrow and our go to guys come alive again, and they rekindle the belief they've instilled in us for much of this season.
