I have a feeling a pick and maybe Reinhart will go to Buffalo for Stewart.

Nope but would use to perhaps move up in the draft

Would you trade all 5 picks in the first 3 rounds for OEL?

I would not trade picks for rentals. With the improved results of the Flames scouting team the last two or three years - those picks could actually be more valuable when they get turned into players at the draft.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving away the 3rd even for a rental, but I don't see much point in it either. We're not desperate to make the playoffs, nor likely to go far if we got there.
Besides, our chances to make the playoffs without Giordano are not great no matter what we do.

Yes in a heartbeat, especially since our 1st rounder likely won't be anywhere near McDavid.

nope.
5 picks in the first 3 rounds in year 3 of the rebuild is exactly as we'd want it.

No, Flames should look at the opposite and think about selling
With Mark on the IR it will be tough making the playoffs

I vote to keep the picks, as I have more faith in our management/scouting than in the past.

Would trade picks for OEL or Chris Stewart. We still want to get the most out of this year that we can - and even if it's only one playoff round, that will help development of the team a TON. Bringing in either would help in that challenge.

And if the Flames drafted one OEL and nothing else from those 5 picks would you be disappointed?

Given where the team is in this years playoff race but also overall in the rebuilding stage, Treliving has a tough task to accomplish this deadline - attempt to bolster the current roster to make the post season, while not simultaneously sacrificing important pieces of the overall rebuild.
Obviously this trade goes towards the longer term rebuild. So I still think there's at least something else coming in the way of getting another roster player or two to help us make the playoffs.
Maybe not these exact picks per say but, yes, I'd look at dealing a pick or two for some immediate help. Ideally someone who can also be here longer term though as well.

Keep the picks, at least until the draft. No need for rentals (at deadline prices).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

If it is 1 of the 3rd rounders I could live with that deal

I don't know who the Flames' scouts have their eyes on right now so I can't speak to it. If there's a Gaudreau/Kucherov type talent, then the picks are worth a lot more than if they're thinking of a Kanzig or a Sieloff.
