I'm only surprised it wasn't Lars Ellar they moved instead of Sekac. Good trade for both.

No. I realize us and the ducks are at different staging of building a team, but the only way they deal him is for Gio and/or Brodie or Monahan as part of the deal. And we hang up the phone if they ask for any of those 3.

um....unless Sekac is on the same level as Gio and/or Brodie or Monahan there was some serious error in judgement here and that was the shortest 15 years ever!!!!

Damn! Poe969 beat me to it. Oh well, it deserves a double post.
I guess we didn't have to wait for more than even 15 days, let alone 15-18 years LOL. That too he got traded for a FA signing from Europe.

This trade might take both Montreal and Anaheim out of the running for Glencross - Montreal added the physical forward they wanted, Anaheim added the guy they hope will provide some goals.

Sekac is an undrafted guy that is another of those throw it against the NHL wall and see if it sticks KHL players.

Larceny by the Habs. Nice piece for the playoffs.

Montreal fans seem to be pretty upset with the trade. I only know Sekac's stat sheet, can't say I remember seeing him at all this season. Habs fans are describing him as a "solid two-way player who is just waiting to break out". Also describing him as very shifty and creative.
Anaheim might have found another gem here.

We're going to regret this one. DSP maxes out as a third-line grinder; Sekac has top-six potential and skill, but was held back by a moron of a head coach who hated him irrationally. Sold low on a skilled player again.

Neither of these GMs have made many mistakes.
Likely just ends up filling a need for both teams IMO.

Yeah. Seems like a wash to me as one team gets a physical bottom 6 forward and the other gets a skilled forward that has higher upside but also higher bust potential. Just glad Glencross wasn't involved for either.

Well I take back all my previous statements in this thread.
Anaheim wins the trade hands down.

He's shown a little more than most though and is still quite young.
Lots of teams were interested in him too.
So not surprised he still held value. He could be a good fit in Anaheim and break out
That being said, great trade for Montreal because it addresses a need and they bring in a player with much less risk.

Agreed as I said two posts earlier to your reply. It's an okay deal for both teams but neither of these guys are players that the Flames need.

So everyone else is wrong and a professional NHL GM, who gets paid to run a multi million dollar team who has professional scouts working for him made a mistake. You're not wrong, not at all.

Anaheim is notorious for being unable to recognize and deploy talent.
