Last year at this point of the season it was a sure fire deal that Cammalleri would be traded at the dead-line.
We all know that he didn't but played his best hockey in his 2nd stint as a Flame for the rest of the season.
If Glencross does not bring back a 1st or equivalent then why should the Flames take less.
The Flames are in a playoff position and Glencross seeing his value is less than a 1st round pick would need to up his level of play to get the expected contract that he wants as a UFA.
I would expect strong play from him down the stretch and an important role in the playoffs.
While the plan wasn't for the Flames to make the playoffs but having Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie to have playoff exposure is important.

Went with "Roster Player - Defenseman" - but based more on hope and my perception of the team's weakness than any analysis of what the market might be given the teams on his list.

I would love to see a 2nd round pick and a prospect like most people are picking but I doubt it... Unless some manager is really desperate

That would be amazing but we are talking about Glencross here. I would be shocked if the conversation starts anywhere close to a first round pick.

Went with 2nd + prospect.
An upgrade on D is hopefully also on the shopping list.

Voted 2nd and a prospect.
I think it would either be that or a 2nd and another conditional pick.
I also think there is a pretty good chance that they take back salary in a bigger deal to up the return - to maybe something like a 2nd and a better prospect.

Only limiting factor is his list of teams.
The list of players available is so weak that you could really get a bidding war.
There is no Iginla, Gaborik, or Vanek available this year. And Glencross has a minimal cap hit.
And GMs do tend to get a bit crazy. A 2nd would be the starting point. If you look at years past, you could say the value of Glencross would be somewhere in here:
Pominville to MIN (with a 4th) for prospects (Hackett + Larsson) +1st (2013) + 2nd (2014)
Gaustad to NASH (with a 4th) for 1st (2012)
Regehr to LA for 2nd (2014) + 2nd (2015)
Clowe to NYR for 2nd (2013) + 3rd (2013) + cond 2nd (2014)
Leopold to St Louis for 2nd (2013) + cond 4th (2013)
Hemsky to OTT for 3rd (2015) + 5th (2014)

A little bit better than a 2nd - like a 2nd and a 4th.

Wonder if the Flames are actual deadline day gun shy and want to get it done before Monday? Or is that the day most likely to see a frenzy so you go with the deadline as a way to push the craziness index up?

As someone who has been a professional trader, if you want to maximize returns on trades, you have to be prepared that sometimes you won't get the trade done. If missing out on a trade makes you gun shy, you're basically done.
If on the other hand, you want to always make sure you get the deal done, no problem - you can do that. But you are never going to maximize value. Which essentially makes you useless.
I highly doubt that either Burke or Treliving would ever be gun shy.

I'd like to see a multi-player package going both ways to maximize on the trade value and hopefully things will work out for both teams short and long term. If this is strictly rental for the other team, I just hope the Flames get the best prospect pick rank possible or the best possible blue chip prospect from the other team's system (preferrably a big centerman).

I think the only way to get a decent return on Glencross is to bundle it up to a larger deal. A 20 goal rental just won't fetch much, I think even a second rounder is pushing it. I would love to see him packaged up with one of our better prospects and sent for a prospect defenceman. Something like Glencross and Baertchi to the Islanders for Reinhart.

I see a prospect and a conditional pick 2nd round (if he resigns/play x amount of playoff games)

Given the teams that will be bidding, I think 2nd and prospect is superior to 2nd and 3rd. Because the picks will be very late round ones, and because the prospects can be better but getting blocked from the NHL because of team depth. Think of being a defensive prospect in Nashville - how are you going to crack that lineup? There might be a prospect or two in the Shore contract/waiver status, or moving to one-way like Ortio next year.
So I'd take a 2nd and a prospect along the lines of a Shore (but a RW or defenceman) over a 2nd and a 3rd.

I'm thinking a larger deal may shake out in the end. With multiple pieces moving out and a couple coming in.
Honestly though, who the hell knows.

With Burke as Hockey Ops President, this is something I think could be very plausible. Treliving still has to follow mandates laid out by his boss.

Went with 2nd and a prospect because that's what I think they'll get, but I'm hoping to see him traded for a defenseman.
