I wouldn't pin my hopes on Lack consistently getting the job done. No matter which way you slice it, Losing Miller for any extended period of time is a killer blow to Vancouver.

It's not a good thing.

Depends what Markstrom comes up to the NHL. Lack and current Markstrom who is playing ####ing unreal in the AHL or do we get Lack and Florida Markstrom who was god awful.

If it's the former, we can atleast tread water.

Bo Horvat is heating up recently getting more confidence. He's putting up a decent rookie year playing exclusively on the 4th line.

Willie must be livid. Two of his most consistent players right now are young guys who didn't play in Medicine Hat. If Vey doesn't pick it up soon WD may have to bench his golden boy =-o

The Canucks are pretty resilient when they get injuries though. 3 of their top 4 dmen out and their replacements haven't looked that bad so while it'd be nice if they slipped down the standings if Miller is out for a while, I wouldn't bet on it.

After two periods
the Sabres lead 1-0 over the Predators
the Penguins are up 2-0 on the Panthers

Tampa leads 1-0 over the Avalanche in the first period

Mackinnon just tied it for the Avs.

Bluejackets and Rangers are scoreless. Noticed Foligno's been bumped off the top line with Johansen after the All Star game in favour of Atkinson. Wonder why...

Kevin Hayes just scored for the Rangers

Most commentators here consider Lack to be the better goalie on a game by game basis this year, the numbers are identical but Lack doesn't melt down utterly like Miller after a bad goal, of course he's playing back up, which is a much lesser role, but he played the bulk of last year as the number one so I doubt it'll be a huge shock.

Still have no idea how they are playing as well as they are, if I listen on the radio I am not sure which team has the puck for much of the game there are so many new faces playing for the Canucks!

Going for Dallas but I think flames fall to 9th place after tonight.

Lack was a disaster last year when finally handed the starters job.

Some canucks fans here were bleating about him having top-20 stats as a backup but being starter is a totally different animal and that's why Lack is a career backup. Easy to mop up and play well when there's no expectations.

canucks will still drop off here in the next 20 games.

Not totally correct. Lack was a disaster when he lost the safety net of Luongo. He was technically the starter prior to the trade (or being used as such, at least) and was fine. As soon as Luongo was dealt the wheels came off, but that went for the whole team and not just Lack.

Missing their starting goaltender, three of their top four blueliners and three forwards - the Canucks are simply done.

They may have a dead cat bounce for another game or two, but a total collapse should follow. It's guaranteed.

If Calgary can't pass them in the standings, the Flames should be ashamed - and the franchise moved to Seattle.

Playing 20 straight games, most of them with a back injury, tends to lead to poor results.

Yeah, no goalie has ever progressed from a backup role to become a starter.

He'll likely never be a top starter or anything, but nothing I've seen from his 5 years of pro hockey would suggest that he can't be a decent 1A/1B goalie. He might not get there, but it'd be silly to slap a ceiling of backup goalie on him.

Lol I wish it were true but Flames fans on this board have been saying this all year long and even during the summer about how bad the nicks would be, yet here they are winning consistently with a seemingly unattractive lineup.

What's happening right now in Vancouver is similar to what happened to the flames last year in the second half, the young kids started to mature and push the vets. Only difference is the nucks got off the lightning fast start and are now in good position to make the playoffs.

Pains me to say it but the Canucks are more likely to make the playoffs then the flames.

Patience. canucks did this last year too and inevitably dropped out. It was January that did them in.

Still almost a third of a season to go. A lot of people forget that still.
