Go get em Sam... I was in the AHL conditioning stint group but now that this decision has been made it feels like the right thing to do.

It's the right move. Kingston has fifteen games left and has games in hand with every team in their conference. That should be enough time to go on some kind of run, and hopefully avoid Oshawa in the first round.

Good question actually. What did he get paid?

He was with the NHL team because it was said that he made the team but couldnt be assigned anywhere after camp due to injury, which is standard.

He wasnt in the AHL.

He's only recently been assigned to Kingston.

So what did he get paid?

Boo. This sucks. I can't see the harm in sending him to Addy. He could just as easily get hurt in Kingston

read somewhere that an injury in the off season reverts to the last league you played in so he was an OHL player and therefore not making NHL or AHL money.

The Flames did pay for his stay in Calgary though.

Good.

Partly because I think it's what's best for him, and partly because there are plenty of more developed forward prospects (Sven, Granlund, Poirier, Ferland, Shore, Wolf, Hanowski) that deserve to get NHL ice time right now if that chance comes up. There's no need to create a glut if we don't have to. Spreading out prospect development a bit over a few seasons tends to be good from a team and contract management perspective.

He'll get his chance next year.

You're looking at it the wrong way, he isnt being sent there to avoid injury, hes being sent there to further his development.

Wouldn't he get his NHL salary? As far as I know, the teams have to pay their players on IR. Bennett wouldn't be any different.

That, and the sponsor deals he worked out while he was here. I'm sure he didn't pay a die the whole year on living expenses. Tough to not be making any dough around millionaires all day but I'm sure he was treated well.

Disappointed that we won't see him play a few games here in Calgary but if management feels this is the best course of action, its ok with me.

He also got his signing bonus regardless of playing, so that's something like $92 500.

I don't think he gets that until his first game, no?

signing bonuses are paid out July 1st (or when the contract was signed if July 1st has passed) regardless of games played.

I support the organizations decision. They know what's best for Sam so this is a good move. Can't wait to see him next year in the Flaming C
