I haven't had actual television programming in over a year and rarely read entertainment news. I'm sort of off the grid these days when it comes to arts and entertainment stuff I guess.

I watch hockey on the internet and like 3 or 4 TV shows/series through the Android box once in a while.

Like Tina Fey.
If it's a woman it should be Jessica Williams who's already on the show.

I would watch the hell out of a Jason Jones, Samantha Bee 'morning show' format that spoofs the standard flirty-couple current events morning show.

Haha, I still remember a month or two ago when Jon had her on for a piece and she was so baked she barely held it together, but I think she'd be great. She's super young, too.

John Oliver would have been the ideal candidate, but his new show is so awesome so they have to find someone else if they continue on.

I would say Jason Jones/Sam Bee run a dual program. I think that would be great. I'm a fan of Assif Mandvi as well.

Will be sad to see Stewart go, he really has had a cultural impact like few others. I kind of hope he runs for President. He probably wouldn't want to, and he likely wouldn't come close to winning, but the debates would be hilarious.

Someone like Anthony Jeselnik would probably do a good job. He has that dry, sometimes dark, slightly condescending humour that Stewart is so good at. I mean that in a good way.

But I think it's a good time. Leaving while he still has it. The height of his popularity has passed anyway, but he'll leave behind him a show that's a cultural icon. He lead that show from rather cheap laughs to a platform of actually relevant social criticism. Hosting that show could be the chance of a lifetime for a smart comedian.
Can't highlight the importance of that point enough. IMO Stewart will be really hard to replace because he's become a genuine source of political commentary, he transcended simply being a comedian.
Without overstating the importance of a comedy show, I think Stewart played a really necessary role in the political climate of this day and age. This "comedy" was/is a better look at the current events than many so called news outlets.

Mostly the first segment became clips of politicians saying one thing and then the opposite, and Jon making funny faces. That part became ROTE.

The show was best when he editorialized.

Stewart has probably grown a whole generation of comedians wanting do exactly what he did, so in that sense I don't think finding a replacement is such a huge problem.

The problem will be finding a good one, and someone with some fresh ideas.

Sad day, when I started watching the show had Stewart, Colbertt, and Steve Carrell on it

Please not Jeselnik. Great stand-up, but he's awful when you neuter him to get him past censors.

I really hope Stewart goes on to create a real news program similar to the Newsroom.

Create a show that delivers real news backed with journalistic integrity. Get away from talking heads spouting crap and work at solving real issues and challanging politicians to do better.

Would this really have anything to do with Brian Williams? If so that would be stupid as Williams wounds were self-inflicted.

I read the part about Williams as a joke. Did something actually happen with him? He's usually a good friend of these types of comedians. IIRC, they all work in the same building.

I really hope they can find someone with the same combination of humor and politics to replace him.
