Top 9.

Guy can be slotted anywhere, his grit, hard work and tenacity serve the team well.

Also of note, Backlund makes his linemates better players.

He's a guy that will be hard to keep because someone will want to overpay for his intangibles.

He is a fantastic asset and the type of player you need to be successful but you can't overpay for a guy who will average out around 10 goals a season long term.

He is at worst a good, heart and soul player on the 4th line with occasional offence.
With a bigger sample size, we can see if this recent surge in scoring is sustainable (making him a good complimentary middle 6 player) or if it is just a hot streak.
Character guy who you want to keep around longterm, if he even regresses slightly from this pace, into a 25-30pt forward, he would continue to be a very valuable asset on this team
Bouma and Jooris are two guys I see playing in the bottom 6, scoring approx 20-30 pts each and being able to shift around as needed - which is a real luxury

He's a lot faster this year. His stride seems smoother and he's got a harder shot it seems. He really is a different player than last year

Was glad Cooper gave Backlund the 2nd star last night, he was huge again shutting down Thornton.

As I said in the last San Jose game, he's playing a big man's center ice despite not being a big man.

Playing great, converting on his chances and having solid chemistry with Backlund and Jones especially. Top 9 player or at least I hope he continues to establish that at least.

As someone else mentioned before, he is Ronnie Stern v.2.0. A prototypical 3rd liner. I am happy with his production this season and every 3rd line needs someone that can add some offense once in a while.

He has been rewarded with more ice time lately which is good, but I think on a true contender, he would be a critical part of a 3rd line most nights.

His play is all the more impressive considering he's only 2 years removed from a serious knee injury that practically wiped out his entire 2012/13 season.

He reminds me of a better defensive but not as fast Wingels who is good enough for San Jose's third line. Backlund and Bouma are two thirds of an awesome shutdown third line.

Bottom 6 guy who will play on 3rd line when he is Boooma and 4th when he is Lance. Can move up and down line up for injuries. PK specialist.

Bouma is a Wild Card.

He is consistently a gritty fourth line checker and shot-blocking PKer, but on some nights he can also be the best player.

Right now I'd say he's a top 9 but he could stagnate or progress. He's certainly been durable but how long can he last?

One thing that makes him valuable is that he can play all three forward positions.
The difference between Clark and Bouma is that Clark was gifted his spot in the top 6 for big chunks of his time in Calgary because of weak roster depth. He did nothing with it here. Clark was one of the most frustrating players we've ever had.

Bouma is the opposite. He's earned it. He's lost his NHL spot and been given 1 year contracts to prove himself - which he has undoubtedly done.

All I know is he's a keeper. If the Flames make a decent playoff run, you better believe Bouma will be showing up in those big games.

He's a bottom six grinder. He's definitely heart a soul, can play anywhere in your bottom 6 and spot duty in your top 6.

He's benefiting from crashing the net and pucks being there, or the speed transition game that the Flames play creating odd man rushes.

Don't expect this kind of output from him on a regular basis quite yet, but he's definitely the kind of guy you need on your team to win in a playoff type of game.

I don't know who he is, he was a shot blocker.

Him and Backlund have some insane chemistry, which alone is interesting.

On this team now he's a great 3rd liner, as a cup contender a guy like this would be a 4th liner with the ability to jump up.

Im hoping he can become a super solider hybrid of Yelle and Holmstrom. Great defensive play, can chp in with a few points and always parked infront of the net causing goalies fits.
