Ramo has been average in the last handful of his most recent games, which have been few and sparse. But he was the NHL's third star for the month of November because he was stellar. I for one would like to see him pick up some more games and get back into a groove; when he does, he is clearly a big difference maker.

Not that I rate him above Hiller, but he's been better than average. He had a huge month for us early. He came back down to earth, but so did Hiller for a while. Both of them have been hot and cold.

I'm more concerned about all the love for Ortio. Don't get me wrong, he's probably the future, but so many people were ready to pencil him in at number one based on a few games. The way I see it, he hasn't really done more than Ramo. Now I can't say I can compare their fundamentals or styles very well, but Ortio is still young and would probably benefit from taking it slow. Crushing is confidence at this point would be bad, and the kid is going to have some bad games. The team would benefit too. The worst thing we could do is rush the goalie situation and end up with a #1 who is having troubles. I know it's hard to juggle three goalies, but I think the situation will work itself out eventually. Right now, I don't think we have enough information.

The remainder of February looks nasty... Only one opponent with a losing record(nj) till March.
