I was a little worried Johnny G might get a warning the other night when he was legit tripped and went flying into the air. I don't think he dove - he would have wanted to continue with the puck, but he's so small, it looked a bit like he launched himself.

So how does Subban being flagged for diving invalidate complaints about the Bruins diving?

Does Subban's fine mean Montreal fans are no longer allowed to complain about Vancouver's diving?

It's the annoying "we don't really do it, look at those guys" routine the Canucks fans used for a while. Didn't invalidate anything, just process Subban is a divy diver

Total dive. Tap on PK's arm somehow takes his feet out and tricks ref into calling a penalty. This is exactly the kind of play that needs to be shamed. It's not a spectacular dive of Burrows/Kesler pedigree but it was absolutely a consequential dive by a repeat offender.

I was talking more about how they always accuse the Bruins of diving and being rats even when their team dives (arguably more) and they have a guy like Gallagher in their team. Now if they do it people will just point to Subban. Obviously the Canucks and Bruins dive too.

About time they went after the Habs. Now lets see if they have the balls to fine Crosby.

A Euro/Soccer style jersey of shame, with 'Diver' labels all over it would be awesome to slap on these guys for a game. It would sting more than the $2000 fine.

I like that I can't conceive of any player on this team diving. Out of all of them, Hudler maybe has the awareness to do so (and he played in Detroit), but I don't see him doing it. Johnny wouldn't because he thinks he can beat any stick check anyway. Monahan just doesn't seem like a guy who thinks that way. The grinding guys wouldn't. Gio and Brodie are too busy playing to worry about diving.

Take that back about Gio!

Actually, he's certainly a smart enough player to do it without risk and not get caught. Have never seen it and have never thought of him as that kind of player. Example?

He's definitely done it before. I recall him getting a minor penalty for embellishment earlier this season, but it was kind of a stupid call. Any examples of him actually diving this season? Last season I remember him doing it a few times, but I can't think of anything more recent.

Wideman doesn't necessarily dive but he embellishes slashes on the hands quite a bit in the same way Joe Thornton does in this clip:

Slashes to the hands can kinda hurt though, if they get you in the right spot. Same with high sticks to the face. Not saying they're always innocent, but it can be hard to tell if they legitimately get whacked with a stick.

It does hurt - my kid got whacked just above the glove by another 11-12 year old and it damn near broke his arm. He was out for over a week. The other kid got 5, a game and 3 games off.

Irrelevant post script: when my kid came back he fell in his first practice and did break his other arm.

Giordano has had a couple noticeable dives throughout his career. Not near the frequency as the 'usual suspects' but enough that it's hard to deny it.

Just googling, Gio got a diving call (coincidental with an interference on the other side) in that game against Montreal where Price beat Calgary by himself. Took two other penalties and scored Calgary's only goal too.

I don't like PK but this wasn't that bad of a dive. I'm still glad this is getting called.

I can't remember seeing Hudler dive but he gets really pissed off when he takes a cheap shot. It's awesome.
