Nabokov has cleared
Stan Fischler @StanFischler
My buddy, #EvgeniNabokov, tells me that it appears to be time to "hang up the skates." If so, he will leave a legion of friends in hockey.

He's had a great career. Too bad he couldn't get it done with the Sharks in his prime. Always liked him.

Yeah cool move by both teams to give the guy the chance to retire with his original, and most successful team. Kudos to both franchises.

Classy move. I detest the Sharks but this was a home run.

This is a nice gesture by the sharks. I'm still waiting for them to sign Cheecho so he can retire a shark too lol

Cheechoo is having a great KHL career. I don't imagine that he will be hanging them up for some time.

It would be awesome if he suddenly cancelled his retirement and stole a roster spot/cap space.

It's a nice move and doesn't come for free by the Sharks. They have to use up a pro contract spot. I guess if he retires right away, it frees up again?

From about 2000 to 2010 it seemed like the only time the Flames could beat the Sharks was when Nabokov shat the bed. Really if it wasn't for Kiprusoff playing great and Nabokov playing bad, the Flames could have been looking at a 10 year no win drought against San Jose. Luckily he was prone to a little bed shatting against the Flames.

CBA circumvention! They should have to forfeit games until it is resolved.

Hopefully this is what the Flames do with Iggy if he doesn't decide to return for our cup run. Johnny will need someone to lift the Conn Smythe for him.

I just wanna thank Nabby for being good enough that the Sharks figured they'd go with him and Toskala.
