I have.

This is an all new breed of video, that is incorporated into the video like a regular TV commercial. There is no skip button. This is the thing. I have no issue with the skip button format. There have been plenty of ads and movie previews I have watched through, or clicked, because it interests me. Thats the format it should be, and is fair to everyone.

The only thing I can think, was I finally upgraded to Yosemite, and that seems to be when it started.

Ah! interesting! Have a link to a video that has one? curious to see if I'd have the same result. Maybe it's OS and/or browser version specific.

Vimeo has a ton of great indie content with - on average - far higher production values than YouTube. Remove head from rectum, please.

Yep, AdBlock all the way. If I had to sit through an unskippable 30 second commercial just to watch a short video, I wouldn't watch the video

Yeah, AdBlock is great.
No longer have to look at all those annoying CP ads that pay the bills around here.

The unskippable ads make sure the youtuber gets paid, even though it is less than if someone watches an entire video that skippable instead of skipping it. The atvertisers see it as: If someone can skip a video and they don't they must be interested in the product so we will pay more.

I have no problems watching ads on a channel for someone I like.

People need to make this content, and if I like it, I probably would like them to get money so they can make something like it again.

Just curious on why people are fine with giving someone money only after liking the content.

When you go to watch a movie in the theatre, you pay for the ticket before you watch the movie, not after and only if you liked the movie.

Aside from content owner getting paid for the videos, ads are necessary evil for free service.

I'm not sure about the claim regarding YouTube being found under ads-free platform, was it supposed to be a subscription-based service? It definitely wouldn't be feasible to not have ads or subscriptions since the cost of running a video streaming site at that scale is incredibly expensive.

It wasn't long since YouTube became profitable; engineers to maintain and develop the product, as well as the cost of servers to run and store all that data is really expensive.
