Why does it make him look foolish? Playing is all he's known for decades. Can't fault a guy for not trying to give it another shot. Looks like he's figured out that it is indeed over. At least he won't lay awake in a few decades wondering.

Absolutely. It's obvious I wasn't referring to the climax of his career being an insignificant let-down. Brodeur actually wants to become a villain on Captain Planet after he retires.

I never understand this thinking.
Sure it didn't work out, but he wanted to try and the Blues wanted to let him, so where's the issue?
At least now he can have full closer and retire without the thoughts of "what if I tried playing again?"
I'm guessing he'd regret not trying a lot more than trying and it not working out. The best goalie of all time has earned his right to go about it that way.

Maybe he thinks the Blues have a better shot at the cup this season than the Devils....
Besides, the weather is likely nicer in Missouri than New Jersey.

One might argue that a GM who is in constant contact with a player who is under contract with different might be considered tampering of some sorts....

Lou seems to think that Brodeur will join the Devils after this season

Maybe Brodeur has a little spy camera and hes sending Lou copies of St. Louis' draft lists....

The Blues should retire #30 before New Jersey has a chance just to #### with them.

Not sure why people got so bent out of shape about Brodeur. He didn't want to admit it was over and wanted one last shot in net. He got it, didn't surprise anyone, then it ended, and now he can move on
In 10 years no one will even remember him as a Blue, it'll be a trivia footnote just like Gretzky was there

Hindsight is 20/20, but everyone said this was a horrible idea and that's exactly how it turned out
