The Halifax concept is cool.
But I don't understand why sports writers always include it in expansion talks/theories.
Halifax is a great city, when the Mooseheads are winning they support their team (boy howdy did they not give two craps when they were losing, the Halifax Rainmen of the National Bushleague Basketball Association or whatever it is had games that outdrew them). It's a government town without a ton of industry. What's there is the regional offices of Ontario based companies.
It couldn't support a team. Heck it's debatable if they could support the CFL let alone NHL.
It's a city that couldn't make the AHL work.
Sure at first they'd sellout, but think of the atmosphere of the Senators (especially when Toronto or Montréal are in town). It'd be like that and a 50/50 crowd when the Rangers, Bruins and Penguins come to town as well.
It's never work.
Also Halifax has about 400,000 people. And most say "yeah but what's the surrounding area?" Which usually has the reply "oh sorry 90,000 with a surrounding area of 400,000".
They'd also need a new rink.
That said, awesome concept jerseys.
