When his first speech reaches out to all of the brothers and ignores the sisters you know that this guy is going to continue the regressive policies of that country in terms of their treatment of woman.
A country ruled by uneducated backwards thugs that paid their extremist groups to attack other countries and not operate in Saudi Arabia is just not progress.

Its really embarrassing for Canada, and the US that we continue to consider them as allies.

He allowed women to hold jobs in supermarkets.... As long as they are accompanied by a male guardian, cover their faces, don't interact with males who are not relatives, and don't try to drive themselves to work.
In all seriousness though he did allow women to vote and go to university. Baby steps?

Personally, I think letting 30 women do the sex with me would be a great step forward for the human rights movement.

@KateMaltby: Never felt so devalued as a female citizen of this county as by our flags lowering for King Abdullah today. Patriarchy at its most monstrous

Dude...I did read the article. That's what I'm saying. You don't have to be Alanis Morissette to know it's ironic to suggest a guy with 30 wives in a country of misogynists is a captain of women's rights. F'ck baby steps.

I wonder if this will have any affect on Yemen, since it is getting more unstable by the day.

Seems that all is not well in the kingdom. Wonder if this goes anywhere and what it could possibly mean for the oil industry.
