My recollection is that he was a big kid, former 1st? round draft pick, that we picked up for a song after his career stagnated. Showed a couple glimpses early to get our hopes up, considering our cupboards were completely empty at the time and we were desperate for any kind of young player with promise.

Predictably, didn't do much and was ... waived? Maybe?

Memorable career as a Flame, to be sure.

Goes back a long ways. I still remember that game like it was yesterday. It was around thus time of year as well 11 years ago.

We also beat them in Anaheim in game 3 of our 2006 playoff series. Huselius with the 3 point night and Regehr with a PP goal!

So the Flames haven't won there since 2004, and before that they hadn't won there since 1999. That's 1 win in the last 16 years... wow.

I remember Iginla being sidelined for that game. He sprained his ankle and ended up missing only 1 game. What a beast.

Cali, great write-up, and thanks for posting the Game Recap from 2004. It's fun looking back and seeing who scored the goals. Todd Simpson was on the Ducks...

I have a good feeling about tonight, mainly because of Ortio.

I just hope the Flames get out of this gross town without contracting measles, a few little outbreaks in LA/Anaheim. That said, I hope Perry gets them.

I am always bitter on game day in Anaheim but I'll never stop watching and never stop hoping, 3-1 Flames.

I just noticed Wideman's face in that Splash Mountain picture. Absolutely perfect, hahaha.

Hahahah!! I missed that the first time. That's his "I won the game????" face isn't it?

Any word if Jooris draws in tonight? Given recent play and the size of the ducks, I'd like to see Jooris in for Byron. They both play a similar speedy game, but Jooris is bigger with better hands.
No idea. He only just came off IR and was cleared for contact. Probably a decision right before the game I would imagine. Also, considering that we've won a few with the current lineup, I doubt Hartley wants to make too many changes.

Cali how long does it take you to do these write ups?
From start to finish, no more than an hour usually. It can take longer if I don't have a particular narrative in mind for that game. I usually start thinking about what to write the night before though.

Awesome pre-game write-ups CFF, they get me pumped for the game everytime, much appreciated.

Also special thanks to topfiverecords for the timely use of the Wideman 'The Price is Right' face. That had me giggling for quite a while.

Breaking this curse is all about mental hurdles for the Flames now, and I think there might be just enough swagger in the lineup to finally put this to bed.

Go Flames Go!
