Sylvan Lake to lobby Province to get beach back.

I'm kinda torn on the idea. $1MM is a lot of money, and at a point where the government is facing the mother of all financial cliffs, it seems like the cash could buy an awful lot of "textbooks".

That said, there's no doubt that the beach was one of Alberta's great little destinations, one of the few true beaches in Alberta, and a big draw for the community.

I wouldn't be opposed to the province kicking in to see it restored. Lots of good (and a couple great) memories there, and current/future generations could benefit from it.

I'm 60/40 in favor of cutting the cheque.

Yeah I guess I am closer to your 60/40 split.

The town gains a lot from the lake/beach, but the beach/lake isn't the town's responsibility.

I can't really think of another situation that is the same.
