Bummer, I would have really liked the Flames to take a run at him in free agency. I thought he would make a great addition to this team.

Oh well, keep drafting and developing kids. Wotherspoon might be ready by next year, and Culkin looks good so far too.

Given their cap situation the Oilers are going to have go the trade route. They do have about 10M in above close to league min players coming off the books... but it's all coming from areas where they need massive improvement (D & goaltending) anyways.

I would be shocked if they don't try to acquire Phaneaf.

The Brodie deal as it stands today is ridiculously good. In the next few years it's going to be so comically in our favour that we'll probably feel bad.
