It can't make, but it certainly can break.

This. We're 4 games over .500 right now and have only 39 games to make anther 11. We lose 3 of 4 and we're done (only 1 game over .500 then). Win 3 of 4 and it's still an uphill climb (we'd be 6 games over .500), but we're still in it.

.500 hockey.

Respectable given the opponents, but not quite good enough this time of year if they have playoff aspirations.

I want 5 or 6 points

We should beat Arizona hopefully beat one of San jose and LA. Is love for them to beat Anaheim down there, I think that could be a huge win mentally and also in the standings

LA is going to be the most intense game. We've beat them twice and they're out for revenge.

Anaheim is going to destroy us.

We win in San Jose as payback for the loss that started our big L streak.
We win in Arizona because... well.. they're basically the rich man's Oilers over there.

That'd be 2-1-1 in 4 games. I'll take 5 points of 8 possible. If we can make it 3-1-0 or 2-0-2 that's even better.

The game against SJ, in particular, seems critical, as I think the Sharks are the team that the Flames need to catch.

Regulation wins in LA & SJ would be great for positioning. Hopefully the Flames can pry a few more points out of Arizona & Anaheim as well.

If we lose ground on this road trip I'm going to find the guy responsible for the Briar, tie him up on a curling rink/stretch/whatever the hell they're called and slide curling rocks into his junk at a high rate of velocity.

The Flames pretty much need to win 6 or so games out of the 8 to put themselves in a good spot heading into the month from hell. Next month, 11 of the 12 games are against playoff teams. The Flames need to bank points now, otherwise we could be back in the competition for a top 8 pick

This time, it's different. 4 of the Flames last 5 wins in Anaheim have been in the middle of the month of January dating back to I think 97.

If we're ever going to win there, now is the time.

It only "breaks" it if they go winless.

2-2 and they're treading water, but overall that still makes a 3-2 trip which is good.

3-1 or 4-0 and we're winning important 4 point games and gaining ground in the race, but there's still a long way to go.

If they go 1-3-0 it ends their chances. At 1-3-0 they're basically back at .500 and need to get too 12 games over in 35 games. That's unpossible

I'd expect points in Arizona and LA. I say LA because the games there have been close, low-scoring affairs for years now, for whatever reason. So good chance it goes to extra time. Both teams play it close to the vest, and the Flames seem to have built up some confidence against that team.

I'm still not used to the shark tank being a winable place. But we sure put our foot down last time we were in there. Would be a treat if we could do it again, but let's be honest, I'll take a win in Anaheim over SJ any day.

I voted 8 just because I wanted to try on being wildly optimistic. It feels good!
