Ortio. Hiller was hot garbage last night and I am rarely one to blame a loss on goaltending, but that game was on him.

Back-to-back and Hiller's performance last night means go with the newer hand.

Ortio. Hiller was garbage last night and almost single-handedly lost the game for the Flames.

Ortio. Agree with most other posts here. Wow Hiller was bad last night.

Give Ortio the shot. If he has a decent performance (not letting in any really crap goals) and isn't blown out by the Canucks, then continue giving him starts.

Hiller seems a little distracted out there right now. Let Ortio get in there for a start and maybe that helps Hiller regain some focus. Nothing better than some healthy competition to light a fire under a pro athlete.

If I'm not mistaken Hiller has a great track record after embarrassing losses (which he has too many of). However, even if he played well last night, we are a rebuilding team and need to see what our young players are made of.

Ortio played well last year and would probably beat out any other backup the Flames have had the past 10 years. Give him a shot while he's up here.

Ortio. I'd have said Hiller if last nights game turned our different.

As we've seen before Hiller needs to sit after he loses a few to get his mind back into it or remain focus or something. Too bad he just happens to need that when a Ramo is out but let's see what Ortio can do. Haven't seen and baby flames games this year so I haven't seen Ortio since he was last up with Calgary.

I felt pretty strongly about not throwing ortio in there in an important conference game. However, with Hillers performance yesterday, I think you give Joni a shot.

Ortio hands down. Hiller needs to sit after his last 3 atrocious games.

Ortio. He has his contacts.

Plus, he also HATES the Canucks organization. The Comets have burned him a few times and I'm sure revenge at the NHL level will be sufficient for now. He'll have to let the boys on the farm deal with the Comets tonight.

I hate to throw Ortio into a rivalry game on the road in his first game up, but Hiller is playing like ass lately.

Tough one.

You talk to Hiller and you tell him that he's the number one, he had a crappy game last night but he's going to get the opportunity to bounce back and prove to his teammates that he has that ability.

Or, you go with Ortio given Ramo is a free agent this summer so you can see what you have.

Start Ortio. Hiller doesn't deserve 100% of the blame for last night's loss - he had some guys just floating around all night on defense - but he certainly didn't come close to earning back to back starts. Montoya did everything in his power to get the Flames the win and Hiller couldn't make 1 or 2 necessary saves to lock it up.

Last night was a total team break down but Ortio should get the start tonight.

I get the whole 'it's an important 4 point game in the playoff race so you have to go with your best' argument, but seriously, what do the Flames have to lose?

They have a horrible record of late in Van anyway, and Ortio had a great game there last year. Throw him in and see if he can maybe have that great first game up.

If the Flames are going to push for a playoff spot they will be playing Hiller a lot in the next few months. Making him sit and allow last nights game to replay over and over in his mind is not going to help with his confidence. He needs to play tonight so he can erase that bad memories of last nights game.

I don't think anybody expected Markstrom to be available, still surprised he wasn't claimed anyway. If we go into next season giving Ramo a new contract and retaining Hiller then every team will know that Ortio is going on waivers early on.
