Ok come on now. That's just not true. A lot of the strains today were created in the 70's.
Yes it is. There is probably few people on this site that did more drugs than I did in the 80's and early 90's (done pretty well everything except heroin and today's designer drugs). I still smoke the odd blunt with friends and it's better today than even the 80's.
It was never meant to curb drug use at all, it was all about money. It's not a coincidence that private for-profit prisons started appearing at the same time as the war on drugs ramped up. More people in jail, more money for the owners, more money funneled to the politicians. It also opened up a big revenue stream for the CIA when they got into the drug smuggling business
In my circle and I think it was pretty common, the use of drugs especially grass cut into the booze business. People just weren't drinking much anymore, so they cracked down on drugs and lowered the drinking age. Just another example of money controlling our politics.

No it's not. You probably crap got crap weed in the 80's. For the most part they are the same.

Ha ha I don't think so seeing I grew up in an area that was one of the main routs for weed coming from BC to Calgary but you are partially correct in that the good stuff was available but there was just less of it so a lot of the time we had the average stuff which made up the majority of weed in circulation. A few times a year we would get the really good wheelchair stuff but today that's kind of the normal compared to then. Today you only need to smoke 3 good sized joints where in the old days a few of us could burn through an 1/8 in a sitting.
Take a look for yourself as this is a legit university research project which shows the increase in THC levels over the years;
Outdoor has stayed pretty close to the same, its the indoor stuff that's way more potent. There's just a lot more indoor these days than the 80s - a reliable source
You would get a better high off today's shake than the best weed available in the 70's. It's not 100000x stronger but it's significantly more potent. Crappy stuff today we would call wheelchair pot in the 80's.
I've never understood that as an argument. So it's more potent... who cares? Am I going to get twice as stoned? Am I going to eat twice as many dortitos? Oh the humanity, I hope I don't up in the ER. Classic strawman argument. Being stoned is no different than being drunk (the effects are different obviously, I'm referring to how it changes behavior). Actually forget that, drinking has far worse potential consequences to society and individuals. Some people get absolutely out of control drinking. Pot at it's worst makes people lazy and unproductive. Booze at it worst has actual potential to destroy people's lives, and does so consistently, indirectly and directly. Can't really say that about pot.

According to the article, it's not clear whether increased potency is even an area to be concerned about, as increased potency looks to be equal to consumption.
High quality, lower consumption, lower quality, higher consumption.
He said the high quality of the 80's is the low quality of today, or, that's almost definitely what he meant. On average sure it's getting more potent but the strongest strains from the 70's and 80' are still pretty much the same.
Pretty crazy that Canada, once considered very progressive/"with the times" on all this stuff, has quietly been introducing hardline policies attached to some pretty hefty mandatory minimum sentences.
I know in high school/the party years that followed most of my social circle would smoke (although edibles were very popular too) as a safer/cheaper alternative to binge drinking, and thought we were fairly safe in doing so. Common belief was that american politicians had imposed a massive roadblock on Canada's road to legalization... Would appear today that this was completely false

What a bunch of propaganda bulls hit. Weed is still the same streggth. Maybe back in the day you were a youngerman and could smoke more. People age and can tolerate less as they be. Weeds not stronger your just older. I use to smoke a quarter every two nights when I first was so prescribed pot for my accidents fit recovery now a quarter is good for a week or a week and a half.
Your also full of complete ####ing #### it you burnt through a 1/8 uness it was our shake or you had 3 + people to share..
You must smoke up because every part of your story reeks to high heaven.
I think you have watched to many government ads against mj.Its now encrypted into your brain.
Let me guess do you feel 300 to 400% more stoned?

Those that feel that Canada is going the wrong direction should get out and vote for someone other than the conservative party in the next election.
I have never missed a chance to vote since I turned 18. Whether It was last local municipality or Federal. The one thimg you can always count on from me is a bote against the conservatives.

Stephen Harper( aka Bushes best friend) says thanks for noticing my work.
Yes but if you believe the Harper Government marijuana is 1000000000x more potent today then it was in the 70s.
I've always found this funny, the government puts out "public health" ads saying marijuana is more potent, which is true. I Believe they say 7 x more, I'm not sure that that is true. They are probably cherry picking stats from somewhere. And everyone starts mocking them.
Some middle aged stoned guy who can hold down a regular job calls himself an activist and says Pot never hurt anyone, which is obviously a lie. and we all jump on board.
Homeopaths say pot is great medicine because its natural. But really it is not natural to inhale smoke, and I can think of any instance where burning something and inhaling it is good for you.
I'm not really coming down hard on either side of the legality argument. But no different than Smoking, Drinking, Binge Diets, Tanning booths, Energy Drinks whatever other stupid things we can come up with.. Smoking Pot not long after been legalized will be proven to have implications on you health.

If you look at my previous post with the video they say 300 to 400% stronger.
FYI actual doctorates say pot is good for yo not just homeopaths.
