I am glad Detroit won last night. Didn't need them grumpy.
Didn't Backlund have some really good games against Detroit in the past?

Totally sucks that we had to settle for Monahan.

I love Monahan, believe me. But there's two guys from that draft I would trade Monahan for, and they're Jones and MacKinnon.
Anyway, hockey games. I'm going tonight! Last game I was at was the Anaheim OT game, so anything approaching that level of awesomeness will be great.

Something I meant to add to the OP but forgot: In case you didn't notice, Jiri Hudler is red hot and one of the better offensive players in the league. His 13 goals, 25 assists, and 38 points in 39 games puts him at 17th overall in the league for scoring (tied for 14th). He has 8 assists in his past 6 games. Since Oct 31st he has just 7 games where he failed to record at least one point. That's a span of 29 games. He's +14 playing on a line with 2 rookies most of the year (Gaudreau and either Granlund or Jooris). He makes just $4 million a year.
Red Wings let him go because they didn't think he could be a consistently good player at both ends of the ice. I wonder if they regret that decision now.
Here's hoping Hudler has a big night against his old team.

Nyquist is the latest to be fined by the NHL today for diving, $2000.
Was it from last night?

Wait until Monahan grows into his body. He'll compete with both of them. Monahan might be 220 or 230 eventually, he's got the frame to be a difference maker for a decade.

Also doesn't Monahan have the most goals of his draft class so far?

Going to the game tonight! It'll be my first time in the first bowl, no idea what to expect. Kinda scared.
Hoping for a solid win tonight over a tired Wings team. Backlund with a goal in his return.

Excited to see Backs back in tonight. Just having him in the lineup automatically makes us better in my opinion. These last two games are huge for the Flames in regards to the standings. Hopefully they can grab at least 3 out of 4 points here before the upcoming road trip.
