Tonight's game stunk. Poulin was being beaten consistently stick side and for whatever reason Malawsky waited way too late to try Frankie. Snider is a decent guy, he's coached my kids before, but he has seen better days. His attitude stinks and all is seems to do is piss and moan at the refs. Evans seemed a step slow at times tonight, Dobbie had a better showing than the home opener.

Anyone know why no McBride tonight? His leadership would have helped with some of the poor attitudes tonight.

Too much coughing the ball up, too many dumb penalties, lack of hustle at times.

Not to use a cliche, but I'm really wondering if the core needs to be blown up. Our key guys seem to be getting long in the tooth and there hasn't been much of a move over the last few seasons to shore up the lineup with some younger blood.

The defense and goaltending is awful, 50 goals in 3 games. also why does it have to be Dobbie and Evans out there trying to set the physical tone.... this is a team with good players but they are a bad team... Edmonton schooled them in all phases

That game was annoying on so many levels. Goaltending needs to turn down the suck, defence needs to try to defend once in a while, and offence needs to start moving around.

Would have been nice to see the refs call a few of the too-many-men penalties on Edmonton, but I guess they had selective eyesight.

At least we got to see some nice tackles out there. Maybe the wrong sport, but what the heck.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't understand sports programming but shouldn't there be a person in the position to sell the NLL to the networks? It has to be able to draw better viewership than some of the crap that is usually pumped through TSN.
Anyhow, the Calgary/Toronto game will be on TSN2 tonight. Only because of the Toronto-at-home aspect I would think. They only have to drive across town to shoot it.

TSN was only showing games that featured Toronto last year but this year that is not the case. With them losing hockey, they bought regular NLL sked, weekly games.

Vancouver is featured 5 times.
Calgary is featured 5 times. (4 of them are home games for Calgary)
Toronto is featured 5 times.
Edmonton is featured 5 times.

So equal share for Canadian teams. So, sorry the TSN hate not warranted this time.

My point may not have come across clearly. I was more frustrated with the NLL themselves not being more active in securing a TV deal. This year has been clearly better but the league has been around for years with very little TV exposure.

I assure you it isn't for lack of trying. Lacrosse is an expensive sport to broadcast which makes it tougher to secure coverage

Ahhh, I see. So the return has to be fairly significant to warrant the cost of broadcasting it which makes sense of course. I had no idea lacrosse was expensive to broadcast (compared to other sports I assume).

Happy to see Frankie get a start and McBride back in the lineup, but there still seems to be a huge lack of jump in their game again tonight.

Talked to Teddy Jenner last week and he thinks the Roughnecks have become too predictable. That they have crossed the line where they were benefiting from so much consistency year to year with the roster, to where now teams just know all the offensive sets and moves. He thinks a shake-up is what is needed. If they lose tonight, that could happen.

Yeah improved defensive effort and Frankie made some saves. They actually came back and tied the game and then the Rock got the winner.
Evans another huge night - he's not the problem.
Tough to say what they should do - best course may be to stay the course. 0-4 is a tough start but if they can beat Buffalo and then sweep home and home v. Vancouver they are right back in it.

Roughnecks season from hell continues as they introduce a rather horrid third jersey:

What the hell is that? Just another step closer to a Minnnesota Swarm level of jersey. Do the players forget what city they played for?

I think they look pretty sweet.
Clean look, really nice shades of black and red, good logo.
It looks kind of like the black in the Stampeders' alternate jersey.

Pretty good game to watch, too bad they lost another one.

The good: Frankie Scigliano played a pretty solid game in goal. Some great saves, and faced some tough shots.

The bad: not sure which is worse, them not moving around and not getting the personnel out in time on offense, or them running zone defense but not covering who they should.

Dishonorable mention: the power-play could have made a huge difference, with two 5 minute majors to Buffalo, but they didn't really capitalize...one was partially negated by a penalty, and the other was ok until Buffalo scored shorthanded.

Football has just about the lamest jerseys in all of pro sports, so that is not a flattering comparison, imo.

When I look at those jerseys, I see the Oilers RBK Edge jerseys. They are lazy, half-finished practice jerseys that the team expects fans to pay full price for.

As to the on-floor problems, this team needs to make a big change and fast. I missed last night, but the product on the floor has been rather awful so far. Seeing that this team seems to be consistently inept on both offence and defence in key moments, one has to wonder how long until the coaches get the boot.

Malawsky just got extended. Don't expect a coaching change. Trades are hard to make during the season as many teams have to manage how many players they fly in tightly. I doubt we see a move.
Frankly they deserved to win last night. No breaks. Wildly entertaining game though
