Was that The Hockey News that Craig MacTavish is reading there? What a dufus.
Thats gotta be a chilling prospect for Eichel and McDavid.

I remember how expensive tickets were for the tournament in Saskatoon 5 years ago. I can only imagine what they are asking for now. And if its like it was here, to see Canada you had to buy packages for the entire tournament. No individual games. It was robbery.

The fawning over McDavid is getting a little tired.
And that goddamn Gibson's Finest commercial is bad in more ways than I care to count.
Oh great, Ferraro, is on.
I'm going to be a barrel of laughs this afternoon.

Montreal is as hockey crazed a city as it gets. Wonder though, they may not be the most patriotic (for obvious reasons we won't get into) so that might have something to do with it.
But overall, I really think when we host in Canada we should really stick to holding it in markets that don't have NHL teams, and have major junior hockey. They will really appreciate it there. Can't remember if there was any problems selling tickets in Calgary and Edmonton, but we have junior clubs. For fans in Montreal, who breath the Habs and watch top notch NHL hockey, as much as we jones for this tournament, it really is a significant drop in level of play from the NHL, and has many have pointed out, not a price break on tickets. Give these games to communities that will just eat it up, like Saskatoon, Halifax, Kelowna and Kamploops etc...

They were probably all at the BB&T Center for the Panthers/Canadiens game. I counted 5 Habs fans for every 1 Panthers fan.

I read earlier that one of the issues was Montreal is more of a Canadiens town than a hockey town in general
I agree it should be a junior tournament
they make enough money off the TSN rights anyway

Comrie and De Leo are friends from LA growing up and signed a pact to be team mates and friends to the end at 15. Both drafted by Jets.
Comrie's Dad is the founder of The Brick

Hockey Canada saw Vancouver and Ottawa generate huge buzz and revenues, and simply assumed that the gravy train would roll without issue if they kept getting bigger and bigger. It worked in Calgary and Edmonton, but HC significantly overestimated how much they could gouge fans this time around. Especially in Montreal.
It will be interesting to see what they do for pricing in 2017.

Other posters comment about more Habs fan's than hockey fans could be correct as well. Clearly missed the mark on how the Montreal base would value this tournament.

Way to resort to name calling.
Just because you feel a certain way doesn't make it factual. Educate yourself a little about a city/Province before you go calling people "not patriotic".

Haha, I'm pretty educated about the city and the province, and travel there often, I love it. There a lot of patriotic Canadians there...........and there are a lot of patriotic Quebecois there as well.........who have no interest in cheering for anything "Canada". This is a fact. It's not some ignorant thing I made up, it is a fact that Quebec is a province divided politically, nationalistically and on some level culturally. It's the reason there are frequent separation referendums in that province.........again, it's a fact.
Pointing out that this may impact ticket sales to "Team Canada" games is far from an ignorant statement. It's true it may not be correct, but I was not trying suggest it be fact, just something that could be impacting sales. I also didn't say it was a bad thing, or provide any personal thoughts on it. I work with a large number of people based in Montreal, we talk hockey frequently as many of us are big fans. A handful of my Montreal based colleagues, do not support "Team Canada" anything, their personal beliefs don't align to it. While I will admit I didn't ask them specifically about this tournament, I'd wager those hard core hockey fans I know, will not be shelling out any money to watch Team Canada play in this tournament for that reason. And I don't doubt there are many others like them in the province.
So exactly what do I need to "educate" myself on? Again, way to add about 14000 layers of speculation to my original post, which is exactly what you would have needed to do to jump to my comment of being ignorant. And, don't call me ignorant in your post, then complain about name calling.........that's just ignorant.

Lots of scoring chances. Not many "grade A" ones, but most of them created by great plays. Love seeing Hicketts get so much ice time

The lowest-priced ticket for one of Team Canada's games was in the vicinity of $100. How many people can afford multiple tickets at that price or higher - plus parking, food, and whatever else - a week after Christmas?

There is no question actually...both Montreal and Toronto are not great hockey towns but instead are tremendous Hab and Leaf towns respectively.
There is a reason that Hockey Canada headquarters itself in Calgary.
