I noticed the backplate against Vancouver and even possibly Dallas.
It is only a matter of time before we see the Black Beauty.

Hiller always keeps it classy. He has a great aesthetic eye and from the quote, it sounds like he basically designed this mask.

Is Hiller trying to break Berra's record for most mask changes in one year?
That being said, i don't mind the design. Not a fan of the flames on the opposite side of the C, but the rest is just clean looking with subtle details again.

I think it was mentioned somewhere that the current mask was originally intended to be temporary. The team mates just liked it so much he kept it, at least for a while.

Can't wait to see it in person! Hiller has some of the best style when it comes to masks/gear in the league, but his masks with the flames have been underwhelming compared to his standards.
I still think Karlsson had the best flames mask ever with his retro colored one. Does anybody happen to have a picture of it?

Ooh, I like it. Reminds me of Dryden's target mask:
Quote:
Ken Dryden's target styled mask had a bold look that was designed to be seen distinctly from a distance. Dryden felt that a mask should have a simple design that could easily be seen by fans both in front of a television and in top level seats.

I like it, feels like a throwback to the 70's-early 80's style of masks. Not a huge fan of his current one. It looked like he was secretly holding out hope he was gonna get traded back to the Ducks or something.

Next to the Kidd dragon, which I adored as a kid, this was my favourite mask of any Flames goalie ever:

Hillers new mask
Kid's Dragon design was my favourite as well. Kipper's was pretty awesome too, though.
Hiller's is atrocious, just looks like a plain black.

My kid calls his current mask a welder's helmet.

It would be awesome to have a Calgary Flames goalie mask database to see what each goalie wore.

Did he ever wear that in a game? Would like to see some action shots...

There is one. I think its buried somewhere in the goalie mask thread. I'll try to find it at some point today.
EDIT: Here's a rough article on it containing some of the past goalies. Not a complete catalogue though.

Here the worst one I found on Google, Noodles really needs better taste. Note the name on the side of the mask by the chin:

I wish a Flames goalie would do a mask of pure fire. Justin Pogge had a half fire half gangster mask when he was with the Hitmen that was phenomenal, and I've always wondered why a guy on the big club never went that direction.

Hiller's sick masks just might make me follow The Flames again. How can you not love that?
