What an over dramatic the-sky-is-falling outlook.

Still a lot of hockey to be played. Not in the best mood too like many posters here, still think Flames can turn it around, PO still big possibility. 5 games lost, but no blowouts, competitive in each game, one goal instead of some posts and there you go.......still not time to panic in my opinion! GFG!!!!!

You are our good luck charm. We need to raise some funds and get you back here ASAP before playoff hopes are all lost.

I think we got spoiled for all those amazing comeback victories. Sucks for the Flames that haven't been given any bounces as of late... I guess the hockey universe has a way of balancing things in the end...

We've been winning on the backs of prospects and callups. I appreciate the patience of treliving, but at the same time he needs to throw a good bone sooner or later. His stop gaps have been ok. Injuries totally suck of course but it will be an interesting month and a half

You mean we can't win every game with last minute heroic tying goal to then wrap up in overtime?

This is the first time this team needs to face a real mental challenge, and I would not be surprised to see an even lower low still. Heck, I will not be terribly disappointed if it will take most of what's left of the season for the team to find consistency again.

Everything is easy when you're winning. This is a good time to see what our players are made of. And of course if Hartley wants that Jack Adams, now is the time to earn it

In any case, way too early to say playoff hopes are gone. Just as teams like LA, SJ and Minnesota can probably play better than they have, Calgary can also play better. Besides, teams like Vancouver and Winnipeg are also headed for a reality check. Lots of games left.

Everything is positive. Great teams simply aren't built overnight. We are showing a hell of a lot of promise now. Last season we showed that we can skate with the best teams of the league, this year? We're showing not only can we skate with them, but we can beat them. All teams will have their ups and downs throughout the course of the season, and our team should rightfully have more downs than ups at this stage of their development - patience is key.

Things are getting better. Even nights where we lose games, it's not for a lack of effort. It's usually tied to mental lapses, or skillset deficiencies.

What a bunch of nonsense.

As much nonsense as the 'I still believe/jump off the bandwagon then' crowd.

It's not either.

Flames have been fantastic entertainment and are growing by leaps and bounds. That's what this year is.
They still have a shot (though an outside one imo) at staying in the playoff race until spring - and that would be amazing.

Enjoy it.

Lets be honest before this season started if someone had told us we would be in the position we are in now not many would have believed them. We were expected to struggle to win games and be competing in the McDavid sweepstakes already.

As it is we have had some great results, come from behind wins which makes for exciting hockey and seen that our prospect pool is starting to provide a lot of hope for the future. Lets not forget that this is year 2 of our rebuild, enjoy the wins but keep the long term view.

I'd say the Flames have moved from "likely" playoff participants to "unlikely".
I'm afraid they will finish in the dreaded 10th to 14 draft pick position..

Better than expected at start of season, and a very entertaining team to watch.

Yeah it would suck to draft 10-14 but at the same time I think this team is poised to keep pushing forward.

The fun thing about this team is that they could go out and dominate any game or they could get dominated any game. They have the talent to go on a huge winning streak and they also lack the talent to go on a huge losing streak. This team is still fun to watch no matter what and this season is proving that they're making strides in the right direction in their rebuild. It would be great to make the playoffs, it would be great to draft top 3, it'll be good if they finish 9-11 or draft 10-15.

We'll be fine because things are still going according to the plan which was to improve from last year, and they have. Most (including myself) thought this was a bottom 3 team in the league and they're way better than that. Yes, we'll be fine.

Not sure if straight up trolling or didn't watch the games and trolling.
Perimeter shots and offensive zone time don't count as dominating when you are on the losing end of the score sheet. The Flames had more defensive breakdowns in all those games than their opponents hence the losses. We can't have an Oilers are No Good thread laughing when they lose even though in a lot of their games earlier in the season they were playing well but losing due to untimely breakdowns and have threads like this saying the Flames are just unlucky for losing the same way. There's no fluke here that they lost all these games almost the same way. They were simply handled by their opponents.

IMO this 5 game losing streak was the exact Flames team we expected at the beginning of the season. Hard working with no finish. How many games do they have to lose before some of you realize that shots on net and outplaying teams 2/3 periods means nothing when they don't result in wins? Sugarcoating losses is the same stuff we were making fun of Oilers fans and media this season.

You still have to look at the season as glass half full because being over .500 is a solid accomplishment but I refuse to sugarcoat losing as that's how loser mentalities start. The Flames haven't been good enough end of story.

We're seeing the difference between proven NHL scoring and relying on hot hands from unproven scorers. The Flames have scored 8 goals in 5 games. While I think the team will pull out of this tail-spin, scoring goals will continue to be a problem. But that's something we knew heading into the season.

Regardless of all of this, not recognizing that we were the better team against the Sabres discredits your hockey knowledge. Sry but you can dominate a team and still lose see Flames vs Hawks back at start of season for one of many examples.

We were not the clear cut "better team" in any of the 5 games we lost. Thinking that is just burying your head in the sand.

Either you suck it up and say that you're okay with this being a rebuild year as originally expected or you admit that something is wrong with this team and a change is need to right the ship.

I'm putting myself in the rebuild group but to tell yourself that we're playing great and that we'll be fine is just fooling youself.
