Every ticket, every time; not that I get that many anymore.
1. Go to the traffic court kiosk at the Calgary Court Center on the date specified on your fine notice, speak with the Justice of the Peace. Ask to meet with the Crown Prosecutor.
2. Meet with the Crown and ask for a reduction to keep the integrity of your license, or whatever, it doesn't really matter. Just ask to have a reduction.
3. You may be presented with a couple options, fine reduction + demerit reduction, Fine increase complete removal of demerits, etc...
4. Make your choice, then ask for time to pay or pay at the CCC near the JoP kiosks.
This might not work with all traffic related offences, it has worked every time I have used it with speeding related offences.
Worth the half-day off work for $100 and a few demerit points.

Yes. Or you can mail in too. Options on the back of the ticket.

I think you can, not sure what days they sit for traffic court though.

Calgary is all days. It's a glorified ticket counter for first appearance anyways. You only get a "trial" (ie. in a real court room) if you plead not guilty at first appearance or mail in not guilty.

This seems reasonable, did it really take 4 hours though? Just wondering how long I'd be away from work.
As for going early, is that possible as the officer has to be there no?

The JP counter is not worth going IMHO because it takes a long time to line up. If you plead not guilty, you get a trial date set. All it takes is to get there 15 mintues earlier to talk to the Crown prosecutor and you get the same result as taking to the JP minus to hours of waiting.
And if cop doesn't show up that's even better. I estimated that it's about 1 in 5 chances that the cop won't show up.

Points always provides good advice. I recommend them or the Crown every time. I don't think that paying blindly and accepting huge penalties is the "moral" move. The cops still let cute, drunk girls off of DUIs on a nightly basis, screw em.

I have a question:
I got a parking ticket, which I don't think is legit. I kinda think the parking officer didn't think it was legit either. I think someone called in a parking officer to write me a ticket. I parking in a bit of greyish area where the signing is really confusing. Someone took offence to it apparently and left me a note saying I shouldn't park there I must have a "cracker jack license" or whatever. Note sure why the person would care, as it's not adjacent to any business or residence. Basically it's kinda near the entrance of an empty yard. Anyway the day after I got the note, I got a ticket. Looks like the officer wrote a bunch of jibberish on it, maybe to appease the person who called him (I'm assuming he/she got called out), and then dated the ticket May 37, 2015 lol (ticket was issued on May 14).
I went to calgaryparking.com to appeal my ticket. It's been 5 business days but the ticket still doesn't show up on on their system.
Should I go to the Parking Authority office to make sure this ticket is void, or do I not bother?

If I were you I'd patiently await for May 37...it's coming up.

Just so we're clear (and I'm sure we are) this is not a typo on my part! My ticket says 2015/05/37.

Dunno about parking tickets, but minor mistakes on police issued tickets are not grounds for them to toss the ticket.
If it doesn't show in the system I wouldn't worry.

Scribbled incoherently, dated for the 37th, (sure it's not the 31st?), not in the system.
Personally I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you'll get another notice if it's legit.

Even if it is the 31st, still makes no sense heh:

Looks like officer 3265 did you a solid.
On another note, does anyone know at the Justice of the Peace traffic counter...are those persons that work there actually lawyers or are they clerks? Guess I'm curious to know what are the qualification's to be a Justice of the Peace.

Haha you caught that just before I cropped it out. Yeah I was telling everyone in the office I need to buy that officer a coffee if I can find him/her.

Quick update: The ticket finally showed up on their system, but has been listed as closed/withdrawn. Hooray!

New update: someone upped the crazy by 10 fold and wrote "no parking" on my windows in black marker. I'm heading over to the nearby police station tomorrow to let them know. They cycle around there all the time anyway so I'm gonna ask them to swing by there a few times more if possible. But apparently questionable parking is appropriately countered with a petty crime??

My wife got a photo radar ticket ($163) doing 49 kmh in a playground a while back. She honestly drives like a little old lady so I'm not sure what made her put the hammer down that evening. Anyhow she wants to see if she can get it reduced. The problem is the car is registered in my name only, and with it being photo radar can she do anything about it, or would I have to deal with it?
