I was reading about Gratitude, and not being much of a vegetarian, can someone clue me in on how raw food can be so great and why you would want to pay someone money to give you raw food? I'm just having a hard time figuring this out.

I had no idea the Gratitude Cafe was that bad. When it was in Calgary I had planned on going there but glad I didn't. Sounds like the same crap service in Kelowna now

Well written bad reviews are so powerful. once they gain momentum and people start reading them because of the sheer humanity of it, can ruin establishments, or make them better themselves and fix it.

All America sounds like it needs is better front of house management. When you are dropping $160 on a bottle of vino, the server, if there is no somali' should damn well know a few things about the wine they are selling. Sounds like worst customer service then in Australia. They should be embarrassed. Hire staff who care, who enjoy the work, and make sure they care, and keep enjoying their job. The food sounds great though.

Here is my favourite.

Were you struck by how very far from awesome the Awesome Pretzel Chicken Tenders are? If you hadn’t come up with the recipe yourself, would you ever guess that the shiny tissue of breading that exudes grease onto the plate contains either pretzels or smoked almonds?

I never actually set foot in Gratitude Cafe, but a coworker of mine has a story along the lines of walking in 2 adults and 2 children and having the owner treat them like they'd all entered without pants on.

"Yeah can we have a table?"

"Kids? What do you think this is a daycare!"

"uhh ok then..."

The Pete Wells review of Guy Fieri's restaurant in the NY Times is epic.

There's quite a few hippies out there who believe cooking foods ruin the nutritional benefits of foods but every once in a while they'd like to have a cook or chef prepare it for them.

There's many other ways to prepare Raw foods. you can Juice it, blend it, spice it, arguably dry it.

I know this girl's been getting plenty of attention in the raw food hippie world...

Call me old fashioned, but saying, "Maybe you should look at the menu first, and then visit", is not the way to impress a restaurant patron.
...
Oh...and having to punch in the amount on the debit machine? Really? Now the customer has to do that? No thanks. Not going to fly.
Reminds me of going into a car dealership here in Calgary a few months ago shopping for a new car. We asked some questions about a new SUV's trim lines and the salesman told us "It's very confusing. Maybe you should go home and look on the internet and then come back tomorrow".

Yeah, for an appetizer before your meal comes. Are you saying people will pay other people to make them a salad and that's it?
