Exactly what I thought of when I read his quote - that poor girl that rambled on about maps and the world being a better place if only more children could have maps. (would add link if I knew how)
YES!
Was going to post that too...

Guy dedicated his "studying" years to becoming an elite athlete. He'll make millions upon millions of dollars thanks to that decision.
Yeah, it's embarrassing - but honestly? He has the rest of his life, post-hockey, to go get educated.
This is Nelson Mandela we're talking about, not the population of Latvia. Also, the issue is he's the one who said he was a great athlete and that he watched him play growing up.
He literally just lied to a reporter about knowing who one of this world's most influential people was. He could have just not commented, then your post would make more sense.
What a dumbass, hopefully he gets made fun of on all the late night talk shows.
Reminds me of a party I was at recently. Some friend of a friend was outside drinking/smoking with us and he asked "if you guys could fight anyone alive or dead, who would it be?", I looked at him and asked him who he would fight and he said Ghandi.
I don't know if the people running that ####ty site should be in the habit of calling anyone "bone-headed". It's like a low-rent buzzfeed with a hockey bent, and a bad one at that.
Bernier either had mixed Mandela up with someone else, or was just trying to say something nice about someone he's not familiar with. Let's burn him at the stake.
I wonder what Michael Ferland thinks of Margaret Thatcher.

If Michael Ferland goes to an event celebrating the life of Margaret Thatcher as a representative of our team and our city, then spouts off some nonsense about how he loved her cooking shows as a kid, I'd be just as ####ing livid with his willful ignorance as I am with Bernier's

Perhaps he confused her with the woman on the cover of those Company's Coming cookbooks, Jean Paré
this is such an odd reference, don't ask how i'm remembering this
